Hello,

My application still in process in Cuba, the baby is due in a summer, our application are not finalize yet.
what is the process involving obtaining Canadian citizenship/passport for our baby? can the application(sponsorship for my wife) be delayed because of this situation. If so? how long, and what are the steps during the process. Thank you in advance.

Presuming you are a Canadian citizen then your baby will qualify for Canadian citizenship when he/she is born. You need to apply for the babies citizenship certificate first, here is the link:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/certif.asp

Once they have the citizenship certificate you can then apply for their Canadian passport. Once the baby is born you can contact your visa office and advise them of the change is your circumstances. It should not have any effect on your wifes application.

1. If the baby received the Canadian certificate in cuba and the passport, how long can the baby stay in cuba? since the baby is now canadian citizen status

2. Should i wait for my wife to be approve for the visa first then apply for the Canadian certificate for the baby?

3. Applying for the Canadian certificate for the baby means after the baby is born right?

Thanks

That depends, does Cuba not have automatic citizenship for those born there?

No, apply as soon as you are able.

Yes, after.

I am not sure, i still have to ask Canadian embassy in Cuba about that kind of matter,
but is there a point applying for the Canadian citizenship for my child, if my wife got denied for the visa, because if i do apply the child will Canadian living Cuba, and it does not make sense now i have to bring the just the child.

It does not appear that Cuba recognises dual citizenship from this article. I would maybe sugget posting on the Havana thread as I am sure this is relatively common occurence, someone may be able to offer you more specific advice.
