Greetings,

I'll be landing in Toronto on the 7th of April as a permanent resident and I've been reading about "bringing goods to Canada" and the duty to be paid if any. I just need to know if the below personal items will be charged duty fees or not:
  • PS4 which i bought in 2016.
  • Laptop which I bough in January 2018.
  • Mobil phone which i bought in November 2017.
Also I have another question about declaring my funds upon entry. I have bank account in RBC with a balance of more than $10K (canadian) and I'll be bringing another $10K (USD) in the form the form of cash. So should this be declared upon entry or not?

regards,
Hazem

I think that the sole purpose of the "goods accompanying" and "goods to follow" lists is to avoid having to pay taxes.

Regarding the second question, since 10k USD > 10k CAD, you'll have to declare it.

there is something called "personal effects accounting documents" and the items that I've mentioned fall in that category but I'm still a bit confused though whether they are taxable or not.

Shouldnt be taxable unless you sell the items within a certain period of landing.
