I think we are near the end. It would be greatly unfair if IRCC refuses our applications after all this time. I agree, the wait is the hardest part. Am feeling helpless and beyond depressed as well.

Lets hope for the best. Based on your first application they refused it right away. While now, they are processing our application. I wish you goodluck.

only IRCC could actually tell how long you have to wait......if you applied after Dec 7th 2016.....i would say patience as you have passed the 12months processing timeline and should be in the final phase of the sponsorship process......application are processed on a case basis......relax.....need just patience.......it will be over.

no one could say how long criminality check will take to complete.........relax.......its a wait game.

Check your application "Status" through your online account linked to your application........if the Background Check message is # (2)...below........you are likely in the final stage before review to request passport or issue of COPR.

1.) Background Check: “Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start your background check.”.

2.) Background Check: “We are processing your background check. we will send you a message if we need more information.“

Update sent out on October 02, 2018 and since then no info except this message reply I have received from London Office below. Can you please explain me which stage my application is and what the background checks currently ongoing means?

Criminality checks have no validity period......the check is started after medical passed and takes awhile to complete......after Review of Eligibility is completed......Criminality checks is next to complete......before review to request for passport or issue COPR.

Our application is now running for almost 26 months. As per our notes recently, we passed criminality and eligibility since june 2017 and background check is in process. However, our second medical will expired in February 2019. They did not request any additional documents since last year. Any idea what took them so long to make a decision or is it possible PPR soon before our second medical expires? I know patience is a virtue, but this is too much.

Most straight forward Outland Spousal Sponsorship follow these process steps (the order of the steps may vary)

1. Application received at IRCC
   
2. IRCC start processing application
3. Receive Acknowledgement of Receipt (AOR 1)
4. Link Application to Online Account
5. Sponsor Approval and File transfer to VO
6. VO starts processing PR application (AOR 2)
7. Receive Request for Medical Exam
8. Medical Exam @ IRCC Panel Physician Clinic
9. Medical Exam Result
10. Passport Request (PPR)
11. Pick-up Permanent Residency Visa (PUM)

Spousal sponsorship process completion time varies depending on the visa office and on a case basis.......will advice you assume process from AOR to completion takes 12 months to help reduce the waiting stress.......relax.....its a wait game

background check must be completed before passport request and how long it takes to complete background check differ for everyone as it requires security and criminality checks and unfortunately cannot be expedited....patience....your application is been processed.

if your spouse is expecting, IRCC wants you to provide the due date....so you may need to update IMM5532...Q10....and send the updated form through IRCC webform to your visa office

sponsorship applications are processed on a case basis.....if you did not receive procedural fairness letter.....your application is still been processed and you just need to be patient....i understand its tough but you have come this far......good luck

Yes.....its normal......Criminality checks is completed in the last stage before passport request or issue of COPR

Untrue. I just passed my medical and the stage now is criminality check according to did call center, they said I also have security check, eligibility check and background checks to complete, I don't think its always in a specific order that they do things.

Hello everyone, I would like to ask how many times do CIC run criminality checks? Does it has a validity period? Our background check is in process now from N/A. They requested a second medical and passed. MP told me that our file is under final review but again doing criminality verification. Is it possible that the first criminality check lapsed its validity and they are doing it again for the second time? September 2016 outland applicant. I hope someone can help me. Thanks in advance.

I know that is unique in each case, but what is the longest you have heard? Moreover, on july 10, we were asked to submit SCH A form online with our original sign. any idea, why's that?

Well, since you applied via EE, the process is different from spousal/family sponsorship.

So the time frame for spousal sponsorship will not help to estimate your EE application time.

I guess I am in the wrong forum then. sorry for that. So I had applied for my wife's WP last year in 2018 and then I submitted EE application for us together. its been more than 9 months. but any idea about criminality check?

Hi, we were approved and got our visa already. All you need is more patience.
