For the person who I know of that didn't get through yet there is no actual reason. For myself KVO never asked for anything. We applied for PR and criminal rehabilitation at the same time in 2017 and got through this year.

My opinion don't get a new police record unless they asked. They can extend them as ours was 2 years old and we didn't need a new police or medical.

Check the bottom of the birth certificate to see if it says amended. Usually when a birth certificate is amended where the parent is added later meaning months or years later a DNA test is required. I sponsored an accompanying child that isn't mine and a DNA test was not needed.
