Hey,

I am hoping someone can help me out here. I received an email from CIC saying:

We do not require any information from you at the present time. An officer will contact you if further information is required. Please ensure when submitting documents that they are still valid and will not expire within six (6) months as this could delay your application.

Should I redo my police clearance? It's been almost 6 months since my FBI clearance was issued.
assuming the rules are still the same now that fbi clearances are good for 6 months, then as long as CIC RECEIVED your FBI clearance before it expires you *shouldn't* have a problem. of course, this can differ by visa officer, so if you are able to, it may be a good idea to get a duplicate report *just in case* it's requested down the line. there's really no knowing whether it's going to be requested or not.

Got an email today requesting me to pay Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF) which I had already paid upfront. Then I got an email saying it was an error and that I should ignore it as they've determined that the fee has been paid already.

Are these the signs of my application being at the last stages? Any senior member who can let me know approximately how much time would it take now to get the DM?

Thanks!

yes, the RPRF is the last step in the process at ottawa. so expect to see DM within 1-3 weeks, then your COPR arriving 1-3 weeks after that.

My husband's working on completing his B4, right now he's working on recording all of his tools (he's a mechanic). I understand that he needs to provide values for this, in Canadian dollars, would it be OK for him to declare replacement value instead of used value, as it would be difficult to price the used values. Also, would it be a good idea to treat it similar to when recording jewellery and take pictures of everything as they are high value?

Almost a month since DM, two weeks tomorrow since they mailed what we assume is COPR.. Still nothing. At what point do you contact them to consider it lost in the mail? I can't understand how it takes 2 weeks to go from Ottawa to PEI.

Hi,

We got DM 29 February and got the COPR in the mail last Thursday (17 March). From Ottawa to Seattle area, it took 2 weeks. So you should be receiving yours soon. When I checked the envelope, mail out date was 2 March. So it took 15 days to be exact.

My husband landed last Sunday at Blaine, WA. I was with him. We had a very rude officer at the Nexus lane. He asked couple questions that you don't even know how to answer. One of them was why are you landing at this hour? It was 8pm. And I don't know what's wrong with landing at 8pm. And the other one was how long are you going to stay in Canada? Ahem, he is landing??!! He was very unpleasant and rude the way he was talking. So that was such a buzz killer when you are happy to land.

Anyway, once we passed him, officer in the office was very nice and processed his COPR in 10-15 mins.

you can try calling now, though i don't think they will put in an inquiry until it's missing for 4 weeks.

We called and were told nothing has been sent out, that we shouldn't have been able to book a landing appointment, and that she doesn't know why our file is showing DM. She has no idea if they are still waiting for photos, but that's the last update she sees. We sent photos, and they were signed for Feb 10th, ecas went to DM Feb 29th - When we called to book landing after DM the phone agent told us his COPR was valid until August 28th.. So there is a COPR.

At this point we are confused and have no idea what to do. We e-mailed Ottawa but the auto reply says 20 days for a response.

Hi Marli,

The same think happened to me. My application was supposed to be sent in ROME but it was processed in Ottawa, with the difference though that I was here as a visitor during the whole processing time. CPC - Ottawa it's pretty fast, I just got landed in only 6 months & 1 week :) I know that CPC-Ottawa process Americans applicants as well as people currently living in Canada... not sure why they sent yours here but Ottawa is pretty fast so stay positive :) Good luck :)
Hi! Thanks for the positive vibe! I sent a case specific email, and they replied saying: "Thank you for your email. Please be advised that some outland Family Class application are processed at CPC-Ottawa. An officer will contact you when further information is needed.". The strange part is, we also now have two UCI's, one for my husband (saying both his sponsorship and my permanent residence are 'in proces',) and one for me about my permanent residence saying 'in proces'. That one from me is actually my old UCI from 2008 (when I was in Canada on a student permit), but I never received one email... Very mysterious... wondering if there are more couples who have two UCIs? Thank you!

Dear lord, what an assbag. They really need to train these border guards better. I wonder if there is a way to report this kind of stupidity, he doesn't even know what landing means? lol. Maybe his mother makes him go to bed at 8 when he's not working.

We called and were told nothing has been sent out, that we shouldn't have been able to book a landing appointment, and that she doesn't know why our file is showing DM. You should try calling again, and keep calling till you get an answer. It's really a crapshoot on which agent will give you useful information.

We all have two UCI numbers, one for the sponsor and one for the sponsored person and yes yours will be the same old, they have you filled already and you will have the same UCI for your whole life if you need to apply again for anything. With the sponsors UCI number you can see both status, as the sponsor is responsible for you for the next years, and you give him permission to your info. When using your UCI, sponsored person, you can only see your status! It's the same for everyone. Bare in mind that CIC doesn't update ecas very often. For example I'm landed already and my partner got approved as my sponsored since November, but it still shows under process on his status :) Probably they will never update your sponsor's status to decision made or approved... but you know that your application is being processed as you are under ' in process'. You will also see that they will add a line when they check your medicals... 'medicals received...'. My status changed very little. It only updated to medicals received and two - three months later from in process it simply went to decision made :)
Good luck :) you are almost there :)

Got DM on the 26th! It was the best Easter surprise!

I'm seeing from a lot of people that it can take anywhere from a couple days to several weeks to get their COPR. My boyfriend (common-law partner) is flying down from Calgary to South Florida at the end of May and we were hoping to make the drive back over the long weekend. Do y'all think it's realistic that I'll have my paper work by then? I know anything can happen but I'm assuming that well over a month is plenty of time. I'm also jumping to the conclusion that getting my DM means were approved!

Has anyone had experience landing at Coutts, on the Montana/Alberta border? Good idea or bad idea?

Also my vehicle is a lease that ends in November so I'm trying to decide whether or not I should take it up at all. I'm waaaaaay under my miles (the drive is around 3,000 miles and I would still be WAY under after the drive!) so the actual drive wouldn't be an issue. Just wondering how that would work at the border. Then after the 6 months I suppose I would have to drive to the nearest dealership in the states and fly back to Calgary from there? Any advice or ideas would be appreciated. Still in the beginning of my planning obviously haha! I could always just fly up but what about all of my belongings?

Sorry if this all seems silly or like common sense! It's so exciting, scary and stressful at the same time! I literally started crying the happiest tears when I signed on to CIC and saw my DM. I hope everyone gets their DM very soon and without hitches. Keep on thinking the most positive, happy thoughts! Sending good vibes everyone's way :)

Thanks in advance!

Congrats kdubbs, :)

Yes I believe as well you got approved :) and I believe that for sure you will receive your CoPR by May :) Happy landing :) I can't help with your questions, but as you will be moving to Canada and bringing your stuff you have to do the paper work for what you are bringing. Your belongingS will be eligible for taxes at the borders. Good luck and celebrate your DM :)

Hi,
I'm wondering if all the applicants here have applied for Inland Spousal PR and not Outland as the Visa Office is Ottawa? My wife is currently in Canada on a closed wp and I'm a PR holder. I'm planning to apply for her PR and evaluating Inland Vs Outland options. I can see processing time on CIC website as 26 months for inland, while for Outland (New Delhi visa office for us), it is approx 13-14 months, which is almost half.
I can see most of the applicants on this thread have got PR in around 6-8 months which is incredible. Could anyone please enlighten me if the application was done Outland and still visa office is Ottawa instead of the home country of candidate? What is the criteria for that? Is it done on random basis?

Thanks in advance
Vaibhav
