What is the best way to go about calling the call center anyway? I see different people post different things on how they ask questions, what number they call, etc.

I've only used it twice, the first time was useless (they literally didn't even ask for my UCI/app number and told me they couldn't help) and this time.

The number is 1-888-242‑2100. I am pretty sure I dial... 1, 9, 1, 1, and maybe another 1? xD It's pretty straightforward, you have to listen to the stupid menu telling you to check your stuff online which feels like it takes forever, but if you follow the instructions and press the right stuff it's not hard to get on with a real person. I waited on hold for about 10 minutes today before someone answered, which isn't too bad.

Huh, that number "can't be completed as dialed" for me.
Nevermind, sorted it out, thanks.

Contacted my MP for some updates and was told security still have not started nor eligibility, lol. Why is ottawa sending out form letters regarding FBI police clearances if they are not going to process it and then the out of order processing lol..... smh :-\

Hi angipangy,

You're not alone. Many people who submitted applications in late May, as well as June and July were moved to IP in early August, however there's been no movement on their applications.

There's been a rather long dialogue among the forums if IP really means IP anymore. So many people received it who submitted their applications much later than those who currently are seeing their applications go from received to IP, and then seeing DM a few weeks after.

General consensus: IP for those in late May and beyond who saw IP prematurely are not the traditional marker for the CIC actually sitting down to look at your application. It likely means that your case is open and sitting in their offices somewhere.

(If you were to look at the 2015 spreadsheet, there's an obvious anomaly where a huge section is just IP whereas it's no where to be seen in earlier months.)

I'd suspect your application has a 1-4 months before someone has it in front of them and before you get the email for additional document requests. There are always exceptions to the rule and those who get processed faster, but the likelyhood that the CIC jumped over February-April applicants and started looking at May applications is rather rare.

Silver lining: you should be a-okay with your forms.

If you want to see if your medicals were received, you can order GCMS case notes (that take approximately a month), and they will state whether or not the medical was received with your application as well as whether or not they've started processing thinks like your background check, eligibility, etc. ECAS seems to be inaccurate more times than it's accurate nowadays . . .

Hope this helps! ;)

Thank you Ineffable!! That was very helpful. I had the feeling it was too good to be true. I guess I will be patient and wait then :(( Thanks again!

I am curious to see how it will play out for those who received the FBI request letter. I never got that myself and now have DM. The only difference I can see is that I didn't send my police clearance upfront, so maybe them getting it more recently than others' has something to do with it? I don't know.

I didn't send mine upfront either. I applied January 30th and sent the police clearance at the beginning of April. Did you send yours later than that? I still got the FBI request letter.

Yea or my MP office is clueless as fck. They claim Ottawa told them my application is an inland application lol! even though my partner got SA in April I then emailed Ottawa and they told me it was an outside Canada sponsorship. I sent two sets of certs, one upfront and then I sent an updated one in May. I did not know Ottawa processed inland applications?

I sent mine in mid-July.

All right, how many think we'll see some DMs tomorrow? ;D

have a post couple weeks back regarding Criminal Background.... There is quite imposible to get it from my native country , I have been living in US for the past 20 years.

I wrote to the CIC and ask if they can waive the requirement, I have provided the FBI records. They wrote me back saying that they will waive this requirement.
Now my application is in progress.. I filled my application in May. looks like there is a lot of May applicants that are waiting for DM..

Today is tuesday I have not receivbed anything.

Today my husbands PR application got updated and now says : We started processing ******'s application on September 24, 2015.

We only applied back in July and I was told by the call centre that I was approved to be the sponsor on September 18th. My partner's boss advised him last week that he'd gotten a call from CIC regarding his work history with them as well.

Does this mean that the paperwork might actually get done early/soon? Or am I just reading into this too much?

Most applications that were sent in post-May have seen IP a week after SA despite historically it taking several months after SA to go into IP. It seems to be something the CIC has started around that time.

It's highly unlikely that those applications (or your husband's) will see DM any time soon. Applicants from February are still waiting for DM—and many even IP.

You can order GCMS case notes for a detailed look at your husband's file, but I suspect it'd show that the eligibility checks for your husband have not yet been started.

Welcome to the waiting game! :P
