they want the actual pp since my partner is not US citizen and not from a visa exempt country..which is fine...they said in the email that the fastest way to get it back would be enclosing a Canada Post xpresspost shipping label...which is also fine by me...i dont care about the money since it already took 1k to get the PR done...

BUT!!!

Canada Post does not accept Visa Debit!!! oh man...I don't have a Canadian visa/mastercard/AMex...I guess I'll try at the post office to see if I can buy one there or borrow somebody else's credit card? y dont they accept Visa Debit!

Noooooooooooooo!!!!! DO NOT USE CANADA POST. Didn't you see what I wrote 5 times by now??? I sent my PP to Ottawa by Canada post, and they never knew did they deliver it. Tracking number didn't appear in the system, and as I've heard it's not the first time it happened. Ottawa doesn't confirm they received your pp, and by canada post you have to send it to a PO box, so you don't even get a signature. I am still waiting to someone to confirm is my pp actually received in Ottawa, or is it lost.

If you don't mind spending a little bit more money, use a courier to send it to Ottawa, and just but an Xpresspost envelope for return (you have no choice there) and include it with your pp. And pray it doesn't get lost on the way back.

Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear there...My partner's sending hers from the States and we are not using USPS cuz I believe once it crosses the border it gets to Canada Post...And yes, I know how bad it is!!!
I was just complaining about not able to get a Xpresspost shipping label online cuz they dont accept Visa Debit...but that's for the return...ur right, there's no choice....at least it's gonna be better than regular mail - -

Good :) Sorry I was a little emotional there, but you can understand me I guess. I just don't want anyone else to make the same mistake, especially that people helped me a lot on this forum.

Just an FYI - I used Xpresspost with tracking for any and all communication with CIC, and our entire application process was fine!

Guess experiences vary from person to person.

same here. I got one of those pre-paid document envelopes at staples, put it in the mailbox, and was able to see our good friend "bud Jamal"'s signature when it arrived.

I guess it was just my bad luck. The only problem is they gave a PO box for mailing it (real address was only if you use a courier), so no signature available. Well, it's done now, hope this doesn't happen to anyone else...

the spreadsheet is open editing, therefore it's expected that everyone updates their own information. i am not, or have ever been an editor. that is why it is open, because all the editors left.

You can use a USA credit card. I've used my Visa USA Credit card before with out problems. My bank charges a foreign transaction fee but c'est la vie! ..

I also believe (at Canada post) i've used my visa debit card as "credit" but I had TD (US). It could be that they allow it because TD is in Canada as well.

I use my TD Visa Debit card (as a Visa with signature) everywhere in Canada with no foreign transaction fee.

I can even go to TD bank and use my USA TD debit card to take out money from an ATM with my Pin.

From what I understand, US debit cards are processed as credit cards, not debit cards, in Canada. This can be handy or a PITA, depending on your situation. But you can always use the card in any ATM.

Maximum (and also pretty much a minimum - they sit on the notes until 30 days have past), so yes, if 30 days have gone by, you should have received them already.

Hmmmm that's what I thought...

not really much point in emailing them I guess...

Actually I would e-mail them. The 30 days is the legal requirement (there are a few exceptions) and I've found in the past that the ATIP team is highly responsive.

I hope you are right. I sent in my request on 11/22, hoping I get my notes soon! :)
