Congrat! So your status change directly from 'Application Received' to 'Decision Made'? I thought the standard status change flow should be 'Application Received' ->'In process'->'Decision Made'

there really is no "standard". some people go from app received to in processing to decision made. others go from app received to decision made. it depends on the visa office and agent handling the file.

hello guys
my friend has an interview thid wednsday .they sent her an email saying that she must come to the visa office to be interviewed becoz they think that their marriage or relationship is not genuine and etc... they also ask her to bring with her the passport.

My question is do u think she may get her visa in the spot if they believed her while interviewing her and make sure that their relationship is genuine or they will be another process after the interview .

i've read on this forum that it's pretty obvious from the interview how the decision is going to go. some people have mentioned being told at that point the decision will be in their favor, it's just not "official" until the documents are processed. I don't believe they will just hand the applicant a COPR right there and then.

i ve heard that a previous marriage may affect the sponsorship application .i had a previous marriage but there is no children.it last for a year and half and it ends like any other relationship . i dont know why it may affect the process . i want to add too that my husband had a previous marriage too from a canadian citizen ..
any opinions plz or similar cases.

My common-law partner was married to a Swiss woman and sponsored her for PR in 2009. The marriage broke down in 2010 and she returned to Switzerland. Divorce was finalized in 2012. He sponsored me in 2013 and the application was approved.

A friend of mine was interviewed in Vienna, passed and received his visa and COPR the same day. Everything is possible

I contacted our MP to ask if there are any other documents outstanding since we have not received any further email requests from Ottawa.

She advised us to get RCMP fingerprints done immediately. We submitted RCMP prints in July 2013. Can anyone tell me how long these prints are valid for?

Looks like they gave me a second "bring forward" date.

it is my understanding that the applicant does not need to submit any Canadian police records on their own, as this is something that CIC does as part of their process, even when they have lived in canada more than 6 months. CIC does thorough and deep background checks on the applicant that includes criminal and security, so sending them something is pretty pointless. Perhaps a senior member can tell you for sure. is this being done because it's what the mp said or because the visa office requested it?

The only time CIC requests a fingerprint based RCMP report is when there is an issue of identity (e.g., someone with similar bio data has a criminal record). The fingerprints provide a mechanism for ensuring you aren't the person with the criminal record. But it's only requested in a fraction of cases (maybe 10%).

They also request IMM 5409 again, which is weird as I'm positive we filled it out correctly with the application -- any one else get this?

*Just realized we actually DIDN'T do it! -- but it's becuase on the Document Checklist, it says you only need 5409 if you have a co-signer:

Very weird! Anyone know why they need this from us? We don't have a co-signer.

EEEeeeeeeek! We just got an email from Ottawa! They are asking for original FBI letter and evidence that sponsor has reestablished residence in Canada. Not PPR yet but excited to know someone's been looking at the file. We ordered my case notes which should be arriving anytime now so hopefully that will shed more light. In the mean time we'll get them what they want asap.

When we were prepping our application, I hadn't read guru's comments that I should send the physical fingerprint cards directly to the FBI and instead, used a channeler who claimed that uploading the scanned figerprints will ensure I get good fingerprints... Doh. Should've noticed channeler was just trying to get more money from me.

Here's what they are asking for for anybody who's interested:

• FBI Clearance: Unfortunately the document you provided is not accepted at this office. Please provide an original FBI clearance certificate. Information on obtaining the accepted document may be found at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/united-states.asp. Once on the FBI Website please select: Option 1: Submit your request directly to the FBI. This must be received at this office by: 08/18/2014
• SPR’s residency: Evidence that your sponsor resides in Canada, or has taken steps to re-establish residence in Canada. This includes but is not limited to: pay stubs, T4 slips, utility bills, banking history, employment letters, lease agreements, etc. Driver’s licences, property tax assessments, social insurance or health insurance cards are not sufficient to show intent to return. This must be received at this office by: 08/18/2014

Congrats boomlet! We don't have a co-signer either and we did not send IMME 5409 with our application package, but I recall reading somewhere that somebody in a similar situation was asked to present that form (can't find the thread now...).
