Did you try sending info request email to CPP? I have noticed in my case that anytime I sent emails, there were no replies but there were at least, movement on my case. I really think sending out emails can serve as nudge. Good Luck!

Oh, yes. Our lawyer sent an email(1st time ever) on our behalf to CIC on Wednesday last week. Heard nothing so far.

Or maybe it's totally random? Every 3rd file requires a passport request, lol. I have no idea.

I am not fond the idea of randomness. But all evidence so far in the forum leads me to that conclusion.

You've received your COPR right? When are you planning on landing? :) And most likely there is a method to their madness but we just don't know what it is!

We had a similar lack of response from Ottawa when our representative sent enquiries, and it was because Ottawa didn't have our file anymore. Sometimes they ignore you cause they feel like it, but sometimes it's something else. Just something to keep in mind.

Hi Dozel
I noticed you are "expecting an interview" and if that turns out to be the case then your file will have been sent to LA, and maybe that is why you haven't heard anything from CIC. Hope its not what happened, best wishes for good news soon.

My document request deadline was April 20th, they received my documents on March 11 and issued my COPR on April 16 (before the deadline). I think it depends on the officer or on how many applicants are asked for additional documents. They might look at your doc's earlier
Thanks little_apple that is good to know Keeping my fingers crossed!

I think it's good news if CIC has requested for more documents. If your supply is sufficient and relevant, it's almost a pass. I, on the other hand, have not heard from CIC since we sent the application. That should be worrysome!

Wow, you've heard nothing so far? Have you requested your notes? It might at least give you a hint about what is going on with your file. Good luck I hope it comes through for you soon.

Thank you!

Now, I actually hope they ask me for an interview. So it will be soon over for good!

besides medical and background check, is there any other hard requirements they need to review? I have the "medical received" update already. I think that means my medical part has passed.

They will need to clear your Criminality check and the Security check and they will decide if your relationship is genuine in their opinion. If you order the electronic notes at least you will know where your file is located.

Do you know how they check the criminality?? Just reviewing the documents I summited or contacting the governments? One of my criminal clearances may not be a genuine.

What is the electronic notes? Is the link below one you talking about?
cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/requests-atip.asp

Hi Kitty,

Why did you have multiple criminal clearances?

And that is also what I've been wandering about. How exactly they review the FBI background check. I sent the original envelope received from FBI. Isn't it just a statement letter that CIC will just take a look at?

We were also considering whether or not we should import his car (5 years old) versus sell it and buy a new one before he comes because cars are cheaper in the US and take advantage of the tax free situation. Not sure if we would run into any issues with having to drive it for a certain amount of time etc before importing?

My Canadian fiance bought a new car in the states and he had to deal with this issue when he moved back to Canada. He would have to pay taxes based on the cost of the car over $10,000. After owning it for 6 months they deduct $10,000 off the purchase price and tax you on the remaining amount over $10,000. ($25,000 purchase price - $10,000 after owning for 6 months = taxed on $5,000) Luckily he got an awesome border agent and they did some "creative math" so he didn't have to pay anything. I'm not sure if new cars are included in the tax free situation, but definitely let us know if they are!

Hi Dozel,

I see that you've been waiting since May 2013. I summited my application in early Sept 2013, and got my sponsorship approval on September 27 2013. And, on March 25 2014, CIC request my FBI clearance if I had lived in the US more than 6 months. I don't know that it was just a coincident that I had lived in the US for 6 months when I got that email from CIC, or they were waiting for me to live in the US for 6 months..

I have summited my criminal clearances from three different countries.

Yes, it was a piece of paper saying something like "my fingerprints were no match to ones in FBI database"

Is it too late to change my review office to my home country? Does applying for the note speed up the process?

I already quit my school and job a several months ago. now I feel like it's a huge mistake.
