Your husband technically does. If he's in Canada it's free. If not, it's $5. I believe he can also sign authorization for you to get the notes to make them free. But as Ivan pointed out, I don't think the notes would arrive in time.

My best guess - and hopefully others will have input - is CIC is concerned because of the unusual issues with his daughter. "In theory" what his ex-wife is doing is illegal, although we know real world application is does happen. Were you able to send in any documentation besides the divorce papers? I'm assuming the child hasn't been medical examined and is non-accompanying, but he listed her on his paperwork? CIC may also want to know why a father would be okay with knowingly signing away his ability to ever sponsor his own child later on.

Like I said, that is my best guess. There are a few others with better legal backgrounds that might have a better idea.

Oh yea I also forgot to tell you that his divorce paperwork did have custodial comments in there. It says they have joint custody.

Well, I definitely think this is a big part of why CIC wants to interview him. If there is anyone else familiar with the situation, I would ask them to write a statement. His sister, definitely. If there is anyone "neutral" such as clergy or family doctor, I might ask them for a letter as well. It would be best if it was someone that knew all 3 members of this former family.

I'm going to ask a question and you don't have to answer if you don't want - but do think about it. Were the police involved in the split? Were there any "domestic" problems? Restraining orders? Even if they were resolved by the divorce and the judgment, CIC still could want to discuss the issues in person with him. I only say this because when my parents divorced, there were restraining orders on both sides and it popped up long, long afterwards. Like years later, in a different state, my HR manager asked me about it because I was named as an underage protectee in both orders. (It was fun times....)

I would also take any evidence he has of trying to maintain contact with his child and/or enforcing the custody agreement.

There were no restraining orders or domestic problems ever. Thanks amikety for your help I am going to contact my sister-in-law today because she is the "middle man" per say in this whole situation.

Wow, fast SA!! Mine was March 15 so looks like a month behind you. The waiting game is killing me!! lol

Question: Can you "land" at any border? Or are there certain ones that only have immigration services?

Also, and this may be a tougher question. My husband has been working here for 3 years on a work permit. The permit expired in June and we are waiting for LMO results to extend the work permit. He has applied for a renewal so he can continue to work until a decision is made. When he lands, does he just to go Service Canada to get a new SIN? Do you think he will be able to renew his OHIP too without the waiting period?

Happy to see movement, but CPP-O: It's time to wrap up the applications you've been sitting on for no reason, like my family's and rsjkd427's!

Also, does anyone know if can I land at a Quebec border if I didn't apply for Quebec (no CSQ)? There's a Quebec border crossing 3 miles from my house, but the closest Ontario border is about an hour and a half drive away.

Seriously though! Also, I should have made a simpler username. Ha.

Simpler can still be anonymous. Ivan isn't my name at all, I'm actually John, and the P is what would be the first letter of my name if you translated it into Russian, though I'm not Russian (I speak it, and I met my wife in Moscow).
