Got DM sometime in the last few days (was not there Tuesday)

Application Received: March 13
In Process: May 4
Generic Doc Request Email: September 22
Decision Made: Mid November (in last few days)

For a US citizen coming from the states does anybody know how long it takes from DM until we get an email about whats the next step?
How long after DM until COPR gets sent out for Americans?

Congrats :). We got ours in about 2 weeks(inside Canada) with copr, so maybe 3 for you? They use the cheapest mail option to send it, which is unfortunate and should be embarrassing for them.

Amen. With the 1K we paid, you'd think we could get an express, certified delivery for the COPR. Hell, I'd pay for it were that an option.

There is no limit on how many times and for how long you can extend your stay as long as you have proof of personal financial support and the reason for doing so, in this case again - family class sponsorship - people want to be with their loved ones while waiting for PR, for some it takes less than a year, for some it takes 2 or 3+ years.
Good for you regarding your multiple citizenship :), but I don't see how this relates to the topic. You are aware though that many countries do not allow dual citizenship? Not sure where you are coming from, but you may be liable for a crime and fraud right now, I sure hope CBSA will check you out thoroughly.

Good luck :D

you cant extend forever period,,2,3 times,,yeah but otherwise youll be living in canada and you cant do that,,,,most countries in the world allow multiple citizenships,,,get some wiki on,,(liable and crime for holding a citizenship??? hahahahahhahahaha)))))

hi all,

Has anyones medicals expired? what happens if a year goes by and the visa paperwork hasn't come through yet? I just got an email today asking for photos and passport copies but it also had this line:

Your Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) Form(s) will be valid for your initial entry to Canada until 09/26/2015 (mm/dd/yy).

Sept 26th was a month and half ago! is my application no good now? Sept 26th 2014 was when my medicals were done and the letter said the application is only valid for a year from the date of your medicals. but is it my fault they have taken so long to process everything? Help!

I wish I could help, but who knows what they have done??? My guess is that they made a mistake that you will unfortunately have to follow up on to make sure it is corrected. They sure don't make that easy with the 'oh-so-helpful' call centre agents and emails that often go unanswered...

All I can tell you is that in our case, my husband's medicals were done in October 2014 and we just got a similar email to you a couple of days ago. However, in our case the bolded line about confirmation of permanent residence validity said the COPR would be valid until 2016/08/10. There was no mention made of expired medicals, so we are just going with it. Hopefully this extension of the date despite expired medicals is standard practice when they take so long to process applications and they just accidentally entered the incorrect year on your paperwork.

Unless there were some red flags in the medicals, they generally are extended for another year for most U.S citizens, you will see this if you order GCMS notes under the medical portion it will stated extension "yes". So in regards to medicals, if they have not ask for a remedical you are good to go.

Checked ECAS this morning.

Got DM!!! SO EXCITED RIGHT NOW.

Congrats! Did you double take like I did?

Oh, and can I ask: how many lines does yours show? I still only show 3 lines. I know there's likely not much to how many appear, but I'm curious.

Hooray, Monday!

Just the three yup

No double take but I did freeze in place at work haha.

No DM here yet, also early May applicant. But it gives me hope that the possibility is there in the next few weeks!

On mine they asked for new medicals about 2 days before the original ones had expired. They asked for them to done within 30 days. As far as I know, there was not any actual health issue because only a standard medical was asked for.

I actually did not do them again. Quite literally on the way to have them done in Canada while visiting, CBSA declared my old Landed Immigrant status was still valid because I was still together with my Canadian citizen wife. They can not be looking at my file because after the original request had gone 45 days a new request came along again for medicals to be done within 45 days. That has also passed so it will be interesting to see what happens next.

Just wait until you see the recycled/refurbished brown paper towel envelope with $0.99 stamp and copr inside. That really delivers!

Well, now I know what to look for, awkwardly shoved into my mailbox by Canada Post.

At least it's unique! You really would think that they would deliver it with a trackable service. It is the "golden ticket" after all.

Agreed, that or give us an option to pay an extra $10 to ensure that happens. What do they do with Passports they send back? ::shudder::

I've already had some less than great experiences with Canada Post. I'm wondering how mangled it'll be . . .
