I think you would need to send an envelope big enough to comfortably fit your passport in as well as a RETURN envelope big enough to fit your passport in so that it can be returned to you. Just make sure that when you are sending a return envelope that it is large enough to hold your passport/s and will cover your postage costs from where it was "sent to" back "to you"... I hope that makes sense...

Hi All,
I see that Dec14 apps are trickling through - such great news and wish you all the best with your Journey for those that have received and started to receive and yet to receive.

I have some wonderful news to share, whilst we were having a holiday in beautiful BC... I received an e-mail advising of 'decision made'. I didn't quite believe it so logged into ECAS and fair enuf... there it was "Decision Made'.

Hallelujah!!

After waiting 7 months and 3 weeks it was on par with what was stipulated within the spreadsheet for processing December 2014 applicants.

I am at COPR stage, (no idea what "CO" stands before the "PR" tho!)... but 30 days to send in some updated photos for the kids and myself, and another sheet....namely as the kids would have grown a centimetre or so and perhaps put on a kilo or more in weight LOL, but that's no biggie ... as well as copies of our passports.

I do have a question though, so appreciate any help/clarification:

Is there a reason why we have not been requested to send in our original passports? We are from AU (Australia) and did an "Inland" application so I am a little confused. Our paperwork will be going directly to Ottawa as we are Inland. I appreciate any clarification/insight please as I really do not know whether I should send original passports as well as copies with a large return registered mail envelope or envelopes?...

Appreciate the help/clarification...

Many thanks

"Confirmation of".

Is there a reason why we have not been requested to send in our original passports?
Because you are from Australia, you are visa-exempt; this means you do not need a visa to enter Canada. The visa office only needs the original passports from those applicants who are not visa-exempt, because when they issue the COPR they will also affix a single-entry visa into the passport. That allows them to travel to enter Canada to land.

Since you don't need the visa, they don't need your passport to attach it. Do not send your original passport, because if you do so it will confuse them greatly and will delay your application while they send it back.

We are from AU (Australia) and did an "Inland" application so I am a little confused. Our paperwork will be going directly to Ottawa as we are Inland.
If you applied in december of last year and are getting your COPR now, you applied outland. Your file was just sent to Ottawa for processing, which can happen to any applicant and most likely those who are already resident in Canada.

Thank you Majromax for the confirmation re passports and clarification. Are you able to share (or anyone else please)....What should I expect in the mail by way of COPR?

Is it an id card / letter of sorts that gets fixed into my and the kids passports or something else that I just carry on me in my wallet?.

Also, once Ottawa have received updated photos/additional info etc, do they notify you once they post something out or do they just send what they send?

Appreciate the clarification.

Many Thanks

Since you are visa exempt, it is just a piece of paper that says "Confirmation of Permanent Residence" at the top, a few questions in the middle (you will have to answer these when you "land") and a spot for the Border Official to sign or stamp the paper. We also got a pamphlet with instructions on how to activate the COPR. Since you applied outland you can either make an appointment at an inland immigration office, or "flagpole" to the US and back, but you'd need a US visa to do this so this might be a hassle.

I noticed that the letter that came with the "COPR" calls it a "CPR" (which reminds me of the Canadian Pacific Railway), the "of" not being significant enough I suppose. My partner calls is a "coper" when he talks about it. :p

My ecas just changed to in process on 8-21-2015. I'll keep you updated. I've seen a couple of people with IP status for 2-3 months or more, but I've also seen a lot of people go straight to DM without ever getting IP. I think it depends a lot on your visa officer.

Congrats!!! Your VO is Ottawa or Manila though? And thanks :) I really hope so. It would be great if all the rest of us Aug 6-ers get DMs on the same day (and sooner than later, hopefully!)
