Another question for you: when you sent in a document did they in any way confirm that they received it? Like in eCas it says they received medical results--will they add a line that says they received FBI check?
No, FBI results do not show up on eCAS.

I simply meant that there is no third line about the date added to the application side like there is on the sponsorship side. At least as far as I know.
This may be unique to the most recent batch of 'in process' applications. For my own application that received IP around June 10th, there was indeed a note when processing began. My full eCAS listing now reads:
[quote author=eCAS]
1. We received your application for permanent residence on October 23, 2014.
2. We started processing your application on June 10, 2015.
3. Medical results have been received.
4. A decision has been made on your application. The office will contact you concerning this decision.
5. You entered Canada at the Saint-Bernard-De-Lacolle office on July 27, 2015 and became a Permanent Resident.

Prior to IP appearing, just lines 1 and 3 (then labelled 2.) were visible. Line 4 appeared with DM status on June 30th. The landing line appeared about a week ago-ish.
The medical results were, if I recall, visible immediately upon sponsorship approval. Based on my GCMS notes ordered before most processing had begun, the medical authorization was complete by that point, so I cannot say whether that line reflects simply receiving medical results or having them completely assessed.
For applications with "in process" but no date, until we have seen enough to infer a pattern the only reliable thing to do would be to look at an applicant's GCMS notes to see which (if any) checks had been started. For my own file, the case was marked in active processing with no refund possible as of May 26th (visible in a June 3rd file request), well before the IP date. Prior to that, my paper file was in "inventory."
