Lucky! I'm from Victoria BC and moved to New Brunswick on the east coast back in 2009.. I miss it there so bad!, and there are so many places and nooks and cranny's I'd love to take my wife too and show her that I know.. It's so not the same here and not nearly as awesome as back on the west coast! lol... Enjoy and congrats again! :)
Really? I loved NB, but I've never been to BC and I'll be going Monday the 29th. We're relocating there as soon as my hubby locks down a position in Vancouver (hopefully on this trip, he has a meeting setup). I'm curious, how do the people compare? I felt like the people in NB were warm and friendly. Is it the same in BC?

The people here are warm and friendly and it's the same with back home on the west coast.. New Brunswick is okay and I don't want to put it down I guess, but nothing really compares here. I never lived in Vancouver so my life experience is only with Victoria mostly and the rest of Vancouver Island.. Compared to here Victoria and Vancouver are way more multicultural and I consider that a real plus. It blows NB right off the charts for scenery and lifestyle although a very expensive real estate market compared to here. Winters are very mild compared to NB but lots of wet and grey which can be a bummer. No black flies and way less mosquitoes than here lol.. I guess you get spoiled when you've lived on a big island your whole life and can look across the water at snow capped mountain ranges (real mountains lol) and the whole place just seems to be more alive, vivid, interesting, and full of adventure 8) Just my take and there's lots more I could say but I wont lol ;D

I grew up right over the border in Northern Maine. The black flies, nasty little frikkers! You just brought back bad memories of whacking those things as the bite you all around your head and neck. :-X

We're excited to go there, even more excited to live there. Right now my husband is making his way out there from NJ, in the car. So far, he's punctured the AC condenser on this trip, along with a few other mishaps... At this point, I'm just hoping he makes it to the airport on the 29th to pick me up :-\

Were you in NB this past winter, with the insane snowfalls? I lived for 14 yrs in Northern Maine and I never saw anything like NB experienced this winter. What moved you to NB? There doesn't seem to be many employments opportunities there.

Hi everyone! Anyone know why there are still people waiting for DM that applied towards the end of 2014, when 2015 applicants are getting DM already? Is it because of the holidays and the offices being closed? I'm a 2015 application myself and trying to not get my hopes up about hearing something soon. I'm heading to Calgary in a week and I don't want to sit around workless for months :(

Would it silly to try at call the offices tomorrow and ask anything regarding our application? Il sure they get it everyday. I'd just like a little perspective into what I can expect the next month or months.

Yeah the black flies, so tiny but they pack a big wallop! lol.. That would be a nice and long road trip from NJ to Van and lots of cool scenery along the way.. Yes this last winter here was just crazy for the amount of snow.. It didn't start until around January, but then I think between then and the end March and in to April we were at about 14 feet of snow or more total.. My wife is from Chicago so she is use to snow, but she was really blown away at how much snow we had and was ready for it to be done already as most were here..

I moved to NB back in 2009 for a change and to be able to get a bit of country property and live simpler.. The job options here are hit and miss I guess depending what you do and many require you to be bilingual, but then again you don't need much compared to Vancouver depending on your lifestyle etc.. I guess for an example if you are a nurse working in Vancouver or Victoria your real estate dollars won't go nearly as far.. Here you could have a house on some nice acreage no problem, in Vancouver probably just a condo and it would still cost twice as much as your house and property did here, but then you won't have 5 -6 months of winter to battle either and it's just way better there too! lol. :)

Yes many warm and welcoming people here and welcome to NB when you arrive 8) Whereabouts will you be living in NB if you don't mind me asking? We are about 15 mins outside of Moncton in the country.. When I first came here in 2009 I lived just outside of the Miramichi, but then moved down to the Moncton area in 2012..

My husband grew up in the country outside Moncton but moved in to the city when he was 10 years old, all his family is in Moncton so that's were we will be living :) I used to live there with him for a few years so I have a bunch of friends there that I miss every day and my husbands family of course. I love Moncton for it's people, everyone is so genuinely careing and friendly, the city has lots to offer, it's not too big of a city (I'm from a very small town, lol) and I love that it's close to the ocean and beaches :)

I sure wish I knew what sort of system (if any at all) CIC is using these days! I'm pretty confused too. I submitted my app January 30th, so you aren't too off from me. I think it's probably a bit premature to call now and they probably won't tell you anything anyway. If our applications go past the 8-10 month range, we should start calling our MPs, not CIC. Depending on where you live, the MP is often a lot more helpful than calling CIC directly. Have you ordered your GCMS notes yet?

That's awesome and I agree the city is just the right size with much to offer, and there's no real crazy gridlock even during rush hour compared to the much larger cities and it's safe etc.. Well I wish you a speedy process with your application and a happy return to the city asap 8)

Hard to say with CIC on almost anything nowadays. Some think it was politics and or the heat CIC has been getting so as to look good by getting some 2015 applicants processed already.. Kind of really sucks for all the 2014 people though that have been waiting months and months longer.. I'm from the 2014 Sept Outland crowd and back then it was thought 4-6 months total should do it, then 5-7 seemed right. Now it's 8-10 with some approaching that 10 month mark now and no DM or COPR yet???.. You can call and see what's up and also order your notes if you'd like. And with that said I wish you a speedy hassle free process no matter how long you've been waiting cause it sucks not knowing anything and being in limbo, and also for CIC to get their poop together! 8)

GCMS (Global Case Maagement System) notes or ATIP (Access to Information and Privacy) notes. They are the notes that visa officers make about your file. You can order them from CIC for 5 dollars and have them e-mailed to you.

Here's a link: https://atip-aiprp.apps.gc.ca/atip/welcome.do It takes 30 days give or take a day or two for you to get them.

Here's a walk through on how to do it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_E_dq_uLVo&feature=youtu.be

The call centre is useless until after the processing time is over the posted timeframe. I have been going through hell with CIC and they still don't care to give me info at the call centre. 9 months waiting and counting.
