yes, it appears that "non complicated" files are staying in canada for processing. Up until you, the only applicants this has happened to have been UK and Australia i believe. This is seen as a good thing, and our thread has a spreadsheet to track progress. I believe someone recently has been approved who's application was sent to ottawa instead of their home office. Since this is new, we haven't seen enough approvals to know whether these applications are fast-tracked like US applications.

I had chosen Hong Kong for the published processing times. I'm actually in Canada but didn't want to go via the Inland route.

If you are legally admitted to Canada or the US for at least one year, then CPP-O is a valid office to process your application. That would explain why you, and the person in Canada with an OWP would be processed through CPP-O.

Note that CPP-O is a "visa office outside Canada" for the purposes of immigration. They do this by treating it the same as an overseas visa office - and I'm convinced that somewhere in CIC's files is a nice legal opinion letter saying that as long as they TREAT it the same, the mere fact it's inside Canada doesn't mater. Or alternatively, CIC really does believe Ottawa isn't inside Canada...

We got word that they found our medical and our receipt of payment for the RPRF. . .which means obviously they had them in hand.

How long is it supposed to take for them to get us a decision made? I don't get it, if they had them and could confirm they found them, why is it that 2 weeks later there still is no word -.-

the trend seems to be within 4 weeks. sometimes it's been quicker - it has varied over the past few months. definitely check the spreadsheet to see what the trend is.

Our ecas still doesn't even say medicals have been received. Guess I won't start worrying until it's been 4 weeks -.-

OH! HAHA I totally forgot to bring everyone else up to speed on that. Durh.

I went and got fingerprinted, and literally right as I was about to head out the door to take them to the post office my MP called and said that they had found my documents, and they no longer wanted the FBI clearance. So don't send them. . . .

Question for those who's case was being processed in Ottawa or out of country. How did officer ask for Passport request? or issue visa? By original country is Pakistan but now the case is being processed in Ottawa. From what I know it is illegal to send passport out of country by post?

It is not illegal to send a passport out of Canada by post, though I have read that this is the case for Pakistan.

Because you are not visa exempt, you will have to send your physical passport to the visa office issuing the visa (likely CPC-O)

If they don't permit the visa (counterfoil) to be issued by Islamabad, then you would need to make arrangements for the passport to be brought to Canada. I've not read anyone specifically comment on this case before, so hopefully someone has been through it and can share their experience with you.

Some one told me on a diff post that regardless of where case is being processed visa will be issues from Islamabad. so will see
