From what others have reported, my understanding is that the new PR must wait 3 months from the date of getting PR for OHIP (other provinces are definitely different).

For OHIP, computergeek is correct you won't be eligible for coverage until after 3 months from your landing date. You can go to an OHIP office and apply for it any time but your coverage won't kick in until the 3 months mark regardless.

My wife sponsership was rejected which appealed and won the case.

I got the letter from CPP-Ottawa on 09 Dec'13 to fill some form, medical and PCC which I sent by 19 Dec'13.

question: does anyone been in same scario and how long i have to wait to hear from them ??

Hi all,

I have sponsored by husband from the US and I received sponsorship approval Dec 2013. When I received it my first name was spelled incorrectly and I called the call center who said that Ottawa "would figure it out" when they started processing my application as it was clearly a typo. He said that once they figured it out they would adjust it in the system accordingly. He was nice and reassuring about it but I still wonder. On all the documents I sent to them my first name was spelled correctly and they also have a copy of my passport so I know it's definitely a typo.

I was wondering what you guys think? Should I email someone at Ottawa about this or just leave it? If I should do something, who should I contact? I am afraid that if I contact Ottawa they will pull the file and put it at the back of the queue again.

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

I had the same problem and I was never able to get it fixed.

Hi Everyone,

My partner is a May 2013 applicant. We are still waiting for PPR. The ECAS says "Application Received". We sent in the FBI clearance separately (July 1/13). I am wondering if this is slowing down the application process? I hope we receive some sort of communication soon (I ordered ATIP notes last week). The work permit expires in March and he has a really good job here. We provided loads of supporting documentation as well. Everyone please cross your fingers for speedy results! This waiting game since May of last year is stressful and tiresome...

Happy to report that I have received an email from CPP-O showing my application has been approved. They state that my COPR was mailed this passed Monday. I'll flagpole a couple of days later.

I called CIC today and asked for our status. I am a May 2013 applicant. The rep. told me that I will receive my COPR in September 2014 (15 mos. from the day they received the app.) This is a little disheartening and I'm not sure that it is true, looking at the processing times on the Ottawa spreadsheet.

Has anyone else experienced this?

The call center people don't have different information than we do from what we get on the website. So the standard response would be 15 months.

I would think, based on the trend that you see from Ottawa, it should be more like 8-10 months for most.

Thank you Patience09! I'm going on 9 months now, so hopefully we will receive some sort of communication soon.

My partner's work permit expires in March... I am thinking that we now have to apply to a work permit (he is currently on a PGWP) to bridge the gap between the expiry and the COPR. Senior members, can you give me some direction?

They sent it when I inquired, as I had not received the email from them when I saw my status change to DM.
