It was mailed IN Canada. We crossed yesterday afternoon at Pacific Crossing in BC, went shopping in Bellingham, crossed back over around 11pm. The whole process was quick and everyone was really friendly. I went to Service Canada and got my SIN number today. Overall yesterday was a pretty good day. I was only required to bring my passport and COPR. I didn't need anything else since everything is already here. They also asked for my driver's license. But other than that, it was super quick and easy.
As in you had to surrender it, or they wanted to see it?

Like Nexus, I am curious about this.....did you have to turn in your driver's license or did they just want to see it? I am not planning to import my car until Christmas.

They don't take it, they just want to look at it to help confirm your identity. Also, once you land, They won't accept just the COPR to get a license. You have to wait until your PR card comes to get a Canadian license.

Shoot!! So if I get a job that requires a Canadian driver's license I will have to wait 70 plus extra days? Also, what will this do to me importing my car? Don't I have only 60 days to switch over license/insurance? So if I land and import car on the same day and PR card takes 70 plus days to get to me I would be out of compliance to get my driver's license. Is that correct?

From what I understand, you can still use you US license until the PR card comes because Canada won't issue a new license until you get it. Technically, you have something like three months to change it anyway, and if DMV here doesn't yet recognize you as a resident anyway, then you should continue to drive on your US license until the card comes. The insurance aspect is a bit different though. Some Canadian insurers require you to have a Canadian license while others will allow a US one. You will have to get a letter of experience from your US insurer to show proof of having coverage for a certain number of years to show the Canadian company. You could try calling a few and finding out their rules are on that though. Also, the Canadian branches of US companies, like Allstate, are independent of each other and policies can't just be transferred.

Thanks for the information. I had checked on insurance a bit but was waiting until closer to time. I will make some more calls after I get my COPR. I know my US insurance (State Farm) has been very cooperative and knows I am living here temporarily. They are fine insuring me until I get PR. The whole process is overwhelming. Right when you finish one step and breathe a sigh of relief, another stressful part of the move comes into play. I can't wait to be DONE with all of this!!

I'm afraid I can't give you an answer on timeframe but I want to say CONGRATS on winning the appeal. That must be a relief for you. :)

I can't give oyu a time frame but it seems like you will be processed sometime soon. Just hang in there a bit longer. I'm sure your time will be here before you know it!! :)

Hi Serbia,
My timeline is bit different coz it's dealt in Islamabad but I also went through appeal process in IAD. My appeal was allowed in November 2012. File was transfered yo CPP Ottawa. But Ottawa been lazy since then and never asked for anything till June 2013. June they asked for re medical and police plus latest forms etc. all was provided on 10th June.
Latter they asked for a bit more medical tests which were done on 9th September. After exactly 17 days on 26th September they asked for my passport to be sent to CHC Islamabad. Now it's sitting in islamabad and don't know how much time islamabad CHC takes :)

When an appeal case is won, they reset the clock on processing your application. It's unfair, but it means that it sits in queue until someone gets around to looking at it again. Since they've already asked you for more documents (which is actually pretty fast) you should expect someone to look at it 1-2 months after the deadline they gave you - so if they said "you must submit a response by august 29" then you would expect to hear back from them in October. But if the deadline was September 30, you probably won't hear anything until November or December.

They probably are done with background checks, though they may need to update them if you have been living outside Canada.

Ok everyone .. I got my SA Today from CPP - YAY

You have met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor. Accordingly, the Application for Permanent
Residence for your relative has been forwarded to a visa office abroad for further processing.

The Question i have is does this mean CPP won't process my husbands side of things and his stuff is going to be sent to a US office ?

Assuming your husband is a US citizen or has been admitted for at least one year to Canada or the US, it will be sent to the visa office abroad: Ottawa.

CPP-O handles all such applications though they may choose to transfer applications to LA or NYC but this normally only happens for applications that require extra processing.
