Wow, that is completely in line with current processing times of 23 days, as reported by CIC.
you were lucky, I applied on July 8th, and I still haven't received a passport request....
hopefully it's just a matter of time....

Do you have medicals done already? As they ask for for medical proof as well. If not, they will ask you to go for medicals and that may delay your visa.

No, don't have the medicals, but I think medicals are only required for certain professions. I am a scientist and believe no medicals will be required for me, but thank you for the heads up.
I have a trip on the 13th of August, so it's getting super tight in terms of time.....
again, thank you for sharing your experience here.

Did you hear from them about the passport request, I applied on the same day as you July 9th and have booked my tickets for August 17th.
But havent heard anything yet from the. This is really frustrating.

Haven't heard anything yet, I track the return number every hour, it's crazy, but still not in tracking system, really really frustrating, if I still don't get any information tomorrow, I have to change my tickets, which charges a huge amount.
I think they update information every Thursday, I bet you will get request by tomorrow afternoon. Good luck!!

I am hold valid work permit for 3 years. I applied online on ju in order to get TRV. Still no news from them
I called CIC they said they have no information for those who applied online and that applicants are facing delays due to PAFSO strike.

I applied through regular mail and not online...LOL
Sent by xpress post and was delivered on Aug 7th!!! I understand it takes 36 days....I am planning to travel mid october so I still got some time.

Reason why I applied by mail is because they refused my online application for missing documents....

Hi,

I have submitted an online TRV application from Hong Kong and received a Passport submission request.

I have mailed the passport with with letter and labels they have asked for.

Can anyone please tell me how long should I wait before I get the passport stamped and mailed?

I feel your pain, I hope you got some info, and if there is still a chance for you to get in time I hope it will happen!
For me, even if they issue a passport request today, and I will overnight it, they will only get it on friday, and then I am to leave on tuesday, so I think there is no way it could happen for me. I do have to cancel my trip, it can't be postponed... it's just very very disappointing, but nothing I can do. I tried everything already....

Online application submission confirmed: July 9th
Original Passport Request: Aug 1st
Passport sent to CPP-Ottawa: Aug 1st
Passport received by CPP-Ottawa: Aug 6th
Return envelop tracking activated:Aug 8th (6pm)
Passport delivered: Aug 9th (1pm)

I put a note in my envelope to tell them that I have to leave Canada on Aug 12, it seems more or less speed up my process. Finally, I can take my trip on Monday. Good luck to everyone!!!

Congratulations!!!
I wrote them and pleaded for urgency, but they were not cooperative, saying they can't do anything, that application is in process, etc.
In any case, I also got online application submission confirmation on July 9th,
and till this day I heard nothing.... a big disappointment, but life goes on.
I am canceling my trip... I think PAFSO strike is starting to affect inland processing as well.

sherych dont worry we are in the same situation. I applied online on July 3 and still no news from them. I need to go back home to attend wedding parties of my family members but they are not letting me go by not processing my TRV application :-(
I called CIC but they do not give any useful information on application. Pray for me :'(
