Hi all, I am planning on including in my cover letter something along the following lines. Any advice on this would be appreciated!

Please note that we did not include a criminal record check for ------- for the time that she was in Guatemala. The Reason for this is that --- did not reside in Guatemala for more than 6 consecutive months. She was volunteering in Guatemala with ------------- over the course of 2009. Her status in the country was as a visitor and she never spent more than three consecutive months residing in Guatemala without leaving to return to her home in El Salvador.

Also, any suggestions on page 1 of the 'Generic Application for Canada' where it asks about Previous countries of residence (No. 12). Do I need to include Guatemala.

And also No. 12 on 5669 where it asks to list all previous addresses. For now I have written her address in Guatemala for the entire 12 mo. that she was volunteering in Guatemala (this was at the NGO's headquarters).

I'm mainly worried about writing something in one of these two boxes which will force them to ask for a Criminal record check by default. If in the end I have to send one, so be it. But I want to minimize the possibility of that happening as that would obviously slow down the application considerably (btw, it will bemdifficult for us to get the criminal record check from Guatemala).

Thank you!

your letter sounds good to me which clarify why she didnt provide the informations. and its give less chance for office to look as it says more than 6 month u r good not to include that in your IMM008 but do specify that she was ingautamela what ever the perioud she was in background forms. and just mention tehre she is visiting

Thank a lot. The packet has already been passed on to my parents. Do you think it could cause a problem, as in they will ask for a Criminal record check? I may still be able to change it.

not too sure but for me as well I have my parents who stayed in UK for 3 months and i am not mentioning that in IMM008 but i have clarify that in background check that they visited the U.K . so I am not hiding that they went to U.K. so if CIC need information then we will provide that. i dont think so they will ask for teh criminal records chcek as she never lived more than 6 months continious there which is seems ok you can ask other experts on this post who already sent their file @ parents sponsership joine here.
