Coutts Landing at the Border

Hello everyone,

I'm driving to the border tomorrow to land my wife by flag polling at Coutts. I was confused if we drive through the passenger car lane, or if there is a building parking lot outside we can park, then walk in. Is there a front desk we go to in order to get her Immigration Visa stamped? She has her Confirmation of PR.

You have to drive up to the U.S. side and have them turn you around (that's what "flagpoling" is), since you do technically have to leave Canada and re-enter in order to land. You could probably park at the building, but the CBSA officer will most likely direct you to walk around to the U.S. side, deal with U.S. customs, and back.

Thanks, I wanted to see if there was options other than driving through, but I guess we will do this.

Everything went smooth, just drove through, got my admin refusal for the US side, and then we drove to the exit back to Canada and got everything signed off. Took about an hour to complete the entire process. Next step is Service Canada to get her SIN and Health Care Card.
