there is a twenty year age difference between my husband and I, he's muslim....i was baptized which qualifies me to marry a muslim....we were refused but have since won our appeal

each case is unique with its own twists and turns
since you are here and living together it is unlikely that it would be a problem

no one here knows exactly how an IO will evaluate an application, all we are doing here is as lia said,sharing our experinces plus most of us got to read the manuals the IO uses to evaluate an app. its available on the cic website,so we have an idea on how things work and we try to help each other when we can and something spread some humor to lighten things up..

I think the point that Rasha was making is that if you do come from different religions, backgrounds, education.. you have to answer all questions you think an IO would think of and answer it in your application before they even question it. You know your own personal story better then anyone else. Unfortunately society makes generalisations.. oh she's educated and he's not.. oh he's a jew and she's a muslim.. you have to go above and beyond and not just say it doesn't matter.. you have to back it up with your own story and personal situation. Speak from the heart and make sure that it is said on paper well. If you just say we don't care.. explain why.. You have less chances of those questions being raised if you get an interview.. perhaps the interview would even be waived.... thats what I think anyways..

I am one of IO at CBSA In Canada and believe me even working with them it doesn't help. Imagine when my husband came to Canada they had to take me to translate, imagine that and I work with them they had to ask me all kind of questions because when he came as a visitor we didn't tell them we are getting married and I had been questioned when I work with them for almost and hour but as everyone mentioned the trick behind interviews is if you show are nervous that a RED FLAG no matter what. If you answer in a calm way and without any hesitation there shouldn't be a problem.....
They even told me you work with us and you are responsible for every answers you are providing, I honestly didn't care because when it came to the question are you marrying him all I answered is I will let you know when he leaves the country since I had to take him back to the customs before he left Canada.
The funniest part he had bought something so romantic and they asked me who was it for and when I had to answer I said I have no clue so the IO asked me is it for you, I said perhaps yes perhaps not and again I told him when he leaves Canada I will be more happy to share this news with you. They gave him a visa for 4 months when I thought there is no way on earth they will live the customs.
