Counting started for 12,000 cap

Finally cic updated today....does it update include overall applications under CEC.I mean to say is does it include noc 0,A appliactions too.

No the total number shown is the cumulative numbers of all applications under NOC B. This is strange because the heading says "Total applications received towards the overall cap". But if you sum the number of applications under NOC B it comes to 1213.

I think the next CEC system will be completely different from the current one. From the backgrounder to immigration in 2015, it looks like all economic streams of immigration will have to be supported by an employer. It will no longer be on a first come first serve basis, rather on an application that is supported by an employer. On that basis, I don't think they will eliminate any other occupations but rather give priority to that application which is backed up by a prosepctive employer.

It is going to be very similar to Australia and New Zealand's immigration. Interesting to see what's going to happen next!

As for the numbers updated, I somehow don't trust them entirely. I mean they are supposed to update them weekly, but the updates are provided randomly. Just hope that when it is time to apply, an applicant has a spot open for them!

I believe they have introduced sub caps for the same reason and hope they won't go further disqualifying the NOC'S itself

I would hope not. From what I've read about the 'expression of interest' concept, it's simply about more efficiently matching Canada's labour demands with prospective foreign workers who have a general interest in working in Canada. Perhaps this would affect how FSW is implemented, but CEC? Surely, if I'm living here and I've had skilled work experience, it means I jumped through all the necessary hoops already (except perhaps those of us on open permits).

We've all read the stories here about employers refusing to give reference letters and so on, and giving employers the power to effectively veto people's immigration hopes seems like a silly idea.

It is going to be subjected to all economic streams of immigration. Which also explains why they have started "capping CEC applications" and faster processing times. They'd like fewer applications next year when the new system kicks in.

And yes it is going to be a big hurdle to gain employer support from next year onwards. All the more reason to submit a PR application this year as opposed to next year!

And again, EOI is going to be very similar to Australia and New Zealand's immigration system. This is just my opinion and understanding.

Fair enough. The article does state directly that it will affect programs such as CEC. It still seems to me that EOI is really about placing temporary foreign workers - of course many of these will seek PR and citizenship, but by no means all. But as the article says, the details are still vague.

Yah EOI is going to be very bad for future applicants - yet it is going to be easier for the government to manage.

As far as I understood from EOI, it is system, where applicants are screened very early at the stage regarding Canada's labor market. They will easily eliminate applications, when certain NOCs has too much representation.

So there is that. It almost seems like the era of immigration is slowly coming to an end. Maybe with in 5 years immigrating to Canada will become like owning an unicorn.

I guess people in NOC 2283 better apply as early as they can or start looking at other options.

Correct, there's a maximum of 12,000 accepted applications, including skill level 0, A and B applications.
However, the 200 sub-caps only count for skill level B applications.
