My wife and I did not receive a receipt by email when we paid, we printed out the one on screen. Reading over the checklist now, it may appear we didn't send "copy 2". If we didn't get an email, is there some way we can find this?

I got confused with that too. The one I received via email was the same as the one I printed from the screen. I sent the one from the screen. 'Copy 2' could just refer to when you're paying at an institution like a bank or something.

The checklist reads as if there was something else...but we may have read it wrong. Now I'm worried since they requested us to pay the fee...but we sent our receipt.

We applied outland and paid the fees online and received an receipt with the letter R then 9 digits after it as a reference number. Is that what you downloaded and posted?

It's the same thing, the screen printout and the email, it's the same number. The email is just a PDF for your files.

The checklist reads "If you are paying using the Internet, copy 2 properly completed of the Receipt you print from our website".

Just make sure you fill it out with your name, address, etc. before sending it in.

Hmm ok...I'll have to check out the receipt when I go to work Monday. Just wondering why they sent a RPRF request when it's already paid in full.

Hi,
My husband and I sent the receipt we printed out on-screen (R+ 9-digit number) and it was accepted. It did look the same as the e-mail we received. The receipt was accepted and to date we've not had anyone question payment.

Just thought I'd add some support!

Are you 100% sure you paid in full?

The Right of Permanent Residence Fee ($490) isn't required at the time of application, but the application fee ($75), the principle applicant ($475), and family members ($550) are.

It's strange that you didn't get it sent to your email address. But either way, looking at my old receipt:

1) It's actually split into two parts, separated by a dotted line.
2) Copy 1 is the top part. All it has is the bar code, receipt number, date paid, and how much was paid.
3) Copy 2 is below the dotted line, and contains all the personal information fields you're supposed to fill in (plus everything Copy 1 has).

You were supposed to tear Copy 2 at the dotted line, fill it in, and send that in with your application. Copy 1 is your own copy, to keep for your records.

It probably doesn't matter at all if you didn't separate Copy 1 from Copy 2 and just sent the entire thing in. As long as you DID send the proper receipt, with the bar codes, receipt number, and payer information... you should be fine.

That's the thing, we didn't get sent a copy by email with bar codes or a dotted line. We printed what was on the screen. That's it.

Yeah, I read that. I thought I remembered, after paying, being presented with two items: 1) the transaction receipt (this was NOT the official receipt), and 2) a link or something to the official receipt, which would have been a PDF file. (It's been several months, so my memory of this could be skewed.) This PDF is what is also emailed to you. So I assumed, wrongly, that you had the official receipt even if you didn't get the email copy afterwards.

It sounds like what you sent was not even the official receipt. I'm not sure what you could do to rectify this now, but I vaguely remember old posts of members warning about this (like this one: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/cic-receiptugh-t53915.0.html). Perhaps searches on the forums will help, or others with more experience will chime in later.
