I dont think COVID is the reason for applications that took over 1 year. I could be some dificultilties due to checking security or backgrounds from some countries that does not have info sharing with Canada and its covid makes it harder to proceed this scanning. But waiting over a year for PR is such a bad experience imo

If it was true, the late must be there for all applicants from a same country. However, it is not the case.

How did it take so long on some applications? Was this because of travel history that you traveled to some diffirent countries so it tooks time to clear the criminal check or what else reasons behind this. Do you have any idea?
Well they started lock down right on the day when I got BIL so I had to wait 7 months to do the biometrics. But my eligibility and security were cleared earlier so I wasn't stuck with background check. The issue was the assigned officer, he didn't look at the application at all until April 2021. So someone else took over and passed the criminality. The officer might have 'vanished' because of covid, who knows!

- 1/10/2020 upfront medical exam passed and old biometric linked to the application;
- 5/02/2021 wife entered Canada with a 3 years SOWP;
- 14/05/2021 Eligibility and Criminality recommended pass;

I was also BC PNP Aor March 11 ,2020
I spoke to IRCC on June 15,2021 but till that time my security was not started and on June 24 I received the portal email which I replied same day and I received portal access on June 28 again I uploaded pictures and address same day.Then received ECOPR on July 3,2021. Yours might be on the way. Sending positive vibes to you, I know I was stressed too for the long wait.
