hi,
My common law came to Canada for the first time in June 2013. This is the date we put on the forms as original date of entry. He stayed 6 months, left Canada for 2 weeks, return for another 6 months. Left Canada again for 3 months this time, and the last time he entered Canada was Nov 2014. We extended his stay for 1 year so we can have 1 year of continuous cohabitation in order for us to qualify as common-law. In Dec 2015 (1 year and 1 month since his last entry) we applied for sponsorship. We extended his stay again (since the first extension was about to expire in Dec 2015), and we were approved for another extension till Sept 2016. I know that once PR is active, the extension will become annulled.
We got COPR yesterday and I noticed a small mistake on the paper. At the "original date of entry" CIC put the same date as "last date of entry", which is Nov 2014. Shouldn't "original date of entry" be June 2013, the date he first came to Canada? Or maybe CIC considered the date of Nov 2014 as original and as last date of entry because that is the date CIC took into calculation for being allowed to apply as common law.
Should I call CIC and ask if it's a mistake? In a way, I don't want to wait for another COPR to arrive from Paris, just because of this small error. Or should we ask the immigration officer from Niagara when we'll do flagpoling this weekend? Maybe they can correct it, if needed.
Thank you.
