Hi, my wife is moving to Canada and we are flying to Canada tomorrow, but we're missing the COPR Candidate copy (we have the IRCC copy with the photo). Found out last minute.

Is this a problem?

I think CBSA should be able to print a copy for you @ POE when you land.
Now don't lose the other one.

Oh I’m holding on to that one with my life. You have no idea the amount of stress this is causing me.

Just to be sure, the candidate copy is what we need to present when needed until the PR card arrives right?

Nah, the copy that you lost should be kept till you are granted with Citizenship, or better yet, you need to keep it at a safe place forever. It is the only official record to show any agencies in Canada, at such a time necessary, that you are a PR of this country and since when.

I know we can request a copy of it if it’s lost, but are the CBSA known for printing this during landing?

The COPR's these days, are all printed on legal-sized paper which is just ordinary paper.
IRCC no longer uses special paper (cost-saving).
I remember reading someone's landing here in which she didn't have her COPR.
They just printed new ones at the airport (by CBSA/Immigration) and got done. Easy.
Fly to Canada and just request them to give u a copy.......they have to give u a stamped copy anyways showing landing done.

I’m actually waiting right now for them to print a copy. Keep in mind that if you have a transit flight to catch after immigration, having them reprint a copy will make the immigration process longer.

EDIT: they just photocopied the IRCC copy and the officer put some notes and badge number. Everything is good, but we missed our flight to our destination by 20 minutes because of this and had to be booked for a flight the next day. Horrible first experience for my wife in Canada, but it’s partly my fault for having lost the candidate copy (partly our airline’s fault since the previous flight was delayed by almost 40 minutes).

the important thing is that she's landed and become PR. And that she will get her pr card soon.
So it worked out, which is great.
