Guys is commencing of commercial flights or air bubbles to Canada from India a sign that NDVO will then process our extension? Are the two inter related ?

Logically, yes. Otherwise, what will NDVO do until commercial air travel is not operational. Issuing Visas / travel documents even when commercial air travel hasn't resumed, will only lead to a looping situation of issuance and expiry, that is not logical by all means.

But where did you come across that commercial flights are commencing or air bubbles are being established between Canada & India? Any news / links ??

No news on resumption of commercial flights or bubbles to Canada...thats why I asked this question...this will help me determine how I should move ahead in life

Hi,

Me and my husband are planning to soft land on July 30th and we have planned to quarantine ourselves as well for 14days which includes our plan on how to manage to get groceries.

We plan to leave back to Bahrain after the 14 days quarantine period on Aug 15th, as per the new guidelines updated as on 10th July could anyone please let us know if someone has travelled in the recent days to soft land and if you faced any challenges or simply if you were allowed to soft land?

Also we received our CoPR before March 18, 2020 and it is valid till 20th Sept.

Would really appreciate if someone could help us out here.

Hi, there's a few of us in the same boat and posting on a thread specific to this topic:

It is worth reading through and getting info through this and you can add your input / experiences too.

What exactly does "soft landing" mean? If a person is landing to settle permanently, but still needs to travel out of Canada after 2 or 3 months to visit family and wrap up/sell off/bring more remaining stuff, then come back to Canada, then?

If you are landing for settling in Canada then wait till you get your PR card and then travel to your country for settling things. These are uncertain times and we are not sure what would be next updates from IRCC.

@legalfalcon can you please share advice/your thoughts?

There is no such work or term as soft landing. Many terms have been made up by prospective immigrants such as flag poling, PPR, and soft landing is one of them.

It usually refers to a person whosePR application has been approved, who then land in Canada and is admitted as a PR, and then immediately or within a few days leaves Canada to return later to establish himself in Canada. There can be many factors that may influence this, jobs, children's education etc.

The bottom line is, when you land in Canada and are admitted into Canada as a PR, you are a PR as defined in the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. Whether you decide to stay in Canada for 2 hours, 2 days, a month, it entirely your choice. All PRs are obligated to meet the residency requirement, i.e. must be physically present in Canada for at least 730 days (2 years) in every 5-year period.

However, not the Quarantine Act is enforced to ensure 15 days quarantine after coming to Canada. You cannot leave Canada without completing the 15 days quarantine, if you do, you can be fined. See https://torontosun.com/news/provinc...r-violating-canadas-quarantine-act-in-ontario

After you have finished the self quarantine, you are free to leave Canada or travel within Canada.

However, coming to Canada just for the purpose of establishing your PR status, without the intent to reside here, is highly discouraged at this point. Although, there is no mechanism to enforce new immigrants form not leaving after the 15 days quarantine, but fines can be imposed under the Quarantine Act, which are very difficult to prove and enforce, but theoretically, they can be.

We did see this but we have already booked our tickets and stay so wanted to check if there is any way of getting an exemption to travel.
Hi just some information for you. I and my daughter flied to Toronto from US to complete our PR landing process last month. After landing, we quarantined ourselves for 14 days, and then flied back to US. No officer asked about how long I would stay in Canada, only asked my quarantine plan.

Yes, the dis-allowance of soft landing or as IRCC puts it:
landing for temporary stay purely for the purpose of confirming PR process, in Canada and returning back - came in only around 10 July.

So folks, soft-landing earlier would have been fine of course. Please do refer to the above detailed post from @legalfalcon
