convert visitor visa to WP

I am new to Canada and visiting my spouse. She is having a WP.I am on visitor visa. I am trying to get WP. I have around 5 years of work experience in IT domain Cognos/BI .

I have searched and surfed different sites to understand the process involved. The more I read the more I get confused. Can u guys chalk out a roadmap so that the steps involved becomes clearer. I mean to say, which/what is the first step? How/where can I get it done.

you, find an employer
employer advertise at Job Bank for the position for at least 14 days
employer applies for LMO in your name if no Canadian citizen/PR applied, to HRSDC
you apply for WP if LMO comes back positive (application shd be made outside Canada); if you don't need visa to enter Canada, go to closest border and get WP from there
