My epilepsy requires daily medication to control. I have no problems with the epilepsy and work/live a normal life though I do see a neurologist every six months. Might this cause me to fail to med exam?

You'll need to tell us who is sponsoring you. If it's spousal sponsorship - you can't be refused for medical reasons. Different if you're being sponsored by a child.

Thanks for the quick reply... My wife, married in the USA 11 years ago, is sponsoring me and our daughter. SO I guess I'll be fine. Thanks! ;D

Medical refusals and inadmissibility

This section contains policy, procedures and guidance used by IRCC staff. It is posted on the IRCC website as a courtesy to stakeholders.

An applicant may be refused on health grounds – if their condition:

is likely to be a danger to public health or public safety, or
might reasonably be expected to cause excessive demand on health or social services

Wrong - excessive demand does not apply to spousal sponsorships.

they are only exempt for the "excessive demand" section. Not from Danger to Public Health or Danger to Public Safety.

You quoted the excessive demand section in response to the OP's post.

Don't worry about it - you will not be excluded because of epilepsy. A spouse is exempt from the excessive demand qualification, and epilepsy is not a danger to public health or safety.

Any update regarding your medical exam?

OP's situation is not applicable to you. He is being sponsored as a spouse and is therefore Excessive Demand Exempt, so epilepsy is not an issue.

You are an EE applicant, therefore you and your family members are not Excessive Demand Exempt, so epilepsy could be an issue depending on the severity.

Post your future queries in the EE or PNP sections of the forum.

any updates regarding your medical exam results did u pass
did u declare it

As already explained, OP is Excessive Demand Exempt, so epilepsy would not be a reason to fail.

If you are being sponsored by your spouse, it isn't an issue.

If you are an economic immigrant, it may be an issue and you should post your future queries to the EE or Skilled Worker section of the forum.

Regardless, it must be declared. Not doing so is misrepresentation, which can result in your app being refused and you being banned fom Canada.

Hey All - I appreciate you asking for an update. The medical situation should be fine. Papers are sent - no requests for additional info yet (hopefully at all!)

Again, thank you for your time. I'll let folks know when I get my PR.

-best ;)

Hi

I am in the same issue now. I had it in 2010 and nothing after that. Infact I am not in medication as well.

I declared this to my Panel Physician as well as i don't want to misrepresent as well.

Will this have an impact?
