If a person has consumer proposal can he able to sponsor or marry someone here in Canada?pls need help. Thank you
Actually, they DO care about bankruptcy as that will be a valid reason to deny the Sponsor (unless it has been discharged).rhcohen2014 said:yes, for spousal sponsorship the *only* financial concern CIC has is whether the sponsor has used welfare in the previous 12 months, and whether it is likely the applicant will apply for welfare upon approval for pr. they don't care about bankruptcy or debt.
There is no income requirement for spousal sponsorship.
really? this is the first i've heard. i thought it was only welfare use and criminality???Ponga said:Actually, they DO care about bankruptcy as that will be a valid reason to deny the Sponsor (unless it has been discharged).
Check the application and guide. Bankruptsy (if it's not yet discharged) disqualifies a person from sponsoring.rhcohen2014 said:really? this is the first i've heard. i thought it was only welfare use and criminality???
ah yes! thank you. my mistake. so bankruptcy is out!scylla said:Check the application and guide. Bankruptsy (if it's not yet discharged) disqualifies a person from sponsoring.
Having said that, I'm not sure that consumer proposal and bankruptsy are equivalents.
And...the criminality issues are far less stringent if the sponsor is a Canadian citizen, not just a PR. The Canadian citizen could have a DUI and still sponsor their spouse/partner...which seems a bit unfair, but...I digress. :rhcohen2014 said:really? this is the first i've heard. i thought it was only welfare use and criminality???
A consumer approval you can not sponsor on , until it is over with and been discharged. It is very similar to bankruptcy but you do pay a certain amount of money back .CIC counts it as the same.Gretchsash said:I'm confused guys, I'm talking fr consumer proposal not a bankruptcy. Is it the same?
