Conjugal Sponsorship!

I got PR for Canada and will be moving there in November. Can i apply for conjugal sponsorship for my partner once I am there? I and my partner have known each other for 8 years and we are residents of Pakistan. But we cannot get married here as I am a Muslim woman and legally not allowed to marry a non-Muslim man. We cannot even publicly declare our relationship due to the fear of persecution but our families and friends know that we are in serious relationship. I have explored the option of conjugal sponsorship for my partner but I am a bit confused as I am still not sure whether my case is legit for this category of sponsorship. We both work and live with our families, which means we never cohabited. Financially, we are not dependent on each other as we pay our bills and we cannot hold any asset (property or anything) together because we will have to demonstrate that either we are close family relatives or spouse. In our case, this is not possible. But we exchange gifts. We depend on each other for emotional support and want to settle down to start our family. I have proof of communication and pictures to proof our relationship.
Can anyone please be kind enough to guide me if I can apply for conjugal sponsorship?

Has your partner tried applying for a TRV to Canada yet?

Have you explored getting married in a third country which you can both easily visit?

Generally you need to show financial interdependence. Emotional support is not enough. You need to show you have a "marriage like" relationship.

No he has not. He was hoping to apply for immigration but his score is not enough. He will be applying for visit visa though, but does not have any history of travel to other countries. We have explored options to settle in Dubai and Turkey but these are Muslim countries so we cannot get married there. We cannot afford to go to Europe, that's why I applied for Canada immigration.

He can try for a visa. He needs to show funds, travel history, ties to home country. You can get married in Europe and not being able to afford to get married in Europe is not a barrier.

He may as well apply for TRV to Canada - if approved, can marry here and apply for spousal sponsorship.

In the meantime, do also consider what other countries may be feasible for you both to travel to in order to get married.

While he could apply for conjugal sponsorship (with trv refusal), conjugal can take considerably longer and more proofs or relationship. Applying as married is preferable.

It's not just about affordability but we can't get visa for Europe so easily. I mean it's difficult for Pakistanis esp for those who don't have travel history. Also, by this logic, anyone can go and get married in Europe. Then what is the need of conjugal sponsorship? I mean it doesn't make sense. Sorry don't mind

If your partner already got a visa to USA, chances to get visa to Europe should be not that bad. [Edit: you can ignore this if it doesn't apply, I may have confused with another case in the forums.]

You can also look for any number of countries that do not have issues with cross-religion marriages. YOu'll have to do your own research as to what's practical.

Conjugal can be used for circumstances such as yours (in principle) but we are advising you that getting married will be easier.

There are two main cases for which conjugal seems to be used (but not the only circumstances): same sex relationships (perhaps less frequent now that so many countries do allow and recognize them), and cases where one of the partners cannot get a divorce from previous marriage (this seems most frequently to be the Phillipines). It does also apply to ethnic or religious restrictions, but again - if the couple can travel to some other country where it is not an issue, they can apply as married, and that is probably preferable in most cases.

Would encourage you to do things like transfer money to each other for example when you are in Canada. Financial interdependence will also reinforce a conjugal relationship.
