Hi Postdocs, :-\
I am Chemical Engineers and doing postdoc in chemical and materials engineering (>2yrs) after my PhD from outside Canada. I am having difficulties defining my NOC codes. When I started postdoc in 2010, NOC written in my offer letter was 4122.
Now from 2011’s NOC list NOC 4122 is removed, and new code is given NOC 4011.
When was studying this forum, in some previous threads, some friends suggested to use NOC 2148. This is for engineering scientist. Duties enlisted are:
"Engineering physicists and engineering scientists conduct research, develop processes, programs and equipment to expand fundamental knowledge in the applied sciences and engineering and to support advanced engineering and scientific applications."
However, when I was going through NOC list I saw another NOC 2134. Duties listed are:
Chemical engineers research, design, and develop chemical processes and equipment, oversee the operation and maintenance of industrial chemical, plastics, pharmaceutical, resource, pulp and paper, and food processing plants and perform duties related to chemical quality control, environmental protection and biochemical or biotechnical engineering. Chemical engineers are employed in a wide range of manufacturing and processing industries, consulting firms, government, research and educational institutions.
These highlighted duties matches well with our work as postdoc
Now I am confused, which NOC I should use 4011 or 2148 or 2134.
Please suggest! I appreciate your valuable comments.
