Hi,

I am an Indian citizen married to Canadian citizen. I will complete 6months of my stay in Canada in Jan 2015. Applying for my extension. So, that we can go ahead with the PR process here in Canada. I have few questions to ask before I make a decision of applying Inland or Outland:~

1) Am bit frustrated to do Inland or Outland? Which way is faster?
2) If I choose to apply for Inland, and have a open work permit and leave the country and won't get back ? Will my application gets cancelled?
3) If I apply for inland, and if I need to leave canada with my husband to US on TN visa? What happenes to my application?

Thank you.. It would be a great pleasure if someone advice me, before I take a step further!! Please kindly help!

1.it's your decision as to what to do. generally, outland is usually the preferable and quickest choice. i believe new dehli has an 8-10 month average for processing. i'm sure the new dehli thread will be able to tell you the latest trends.

2. yes, if you are denied entry into canada, your PR application will be cancelled because you are no longer living with your spouse in canada. we are still not 100% how long it will ACTUALLY take new applicants to receive work permits, so it can't be guaranteed it will be received in the 4 months being promised. i am not sure if the work permit allows you into the country, though my guess is it doesn't and you would need a valid visa to get back into canada to continue working. hopefully someone can confirm.

3. it depends on what happens when you attempt re-entry to canada. if you are gone for a short time, and have no issue re-entering, then nothing happens to your application. if you are denied re-entry, then your application is at risk of cancellation.

Keep in mind also, you can be IN Canada and apply outland application.
You don't have to leave in order to apply outland. However, you CAN leave without your application being denied for it. Also you have the right to appeal any denials in your case if you apply outland, which i THINK you don't if you apply inland? At least that's what I was told.
I know a lot of applications are taking MUCH faster than what CIC posts for outland, often the outland application is completely approved before inland has even gotten their first stage approved. It is something you need to look at for what you and your spouse want. You can apply to extend your visitor visa still and apply outland.
Best of luck! Try looking up your location in the threads and get some time frame information and other tips from users that will use the same Visa office before you do anything. This forum is a life saver for us all.
