Hi,

I have been thinking on moving to Canada for quite some time now, but have very limited information; and so to begin with I have few generic questions ( quite a few ;D )..any information would be helpful

1. What does a family PR mean ?

2. What is the difference between PR and work visa ? Also which is more preferable ?

3. What is the difference between a primary applicant and a dependent in terms of work permits and overall ?

4. Is PR and citizenship same ? Does PR visa has an expiry period, or is a lifelong Visa ? How long can I willingly continue with my status of PR visa ?

Plz Help..Thanks in advance !

:)hi Pr is the better option.PR means the permission from Canadian gov to stay in Canada permanent /no time limit.
;)Work permit will be valid till the end of the contract between the employer and employee.probably 2or 3 yrs. After that you have to reaply again and no guarantee that you can get a new one. and for work permit you are permitted to work only for the employer who mentioned in the work permit.
But for PR have no restriction on any job/catagory/employer

Thanks a lot Judin.

Can anyone please help me with my other questions too..would be a great help..

Every country has different rules and privileges for PR and work visa holders. But, the following link gives you a perspective on the general differences between these two that will be true for most countries.

You can also check CIC's website for everything you need to know about PR or getting a work permit. Go to this site:

Namaste :)

Thanks for the vital information..
