I am an international student with CRS 461 got my CLB10+ in three modules CLB9 in Writing IN ielts. It seems that they'll assign some points to international students maybe in next couple of months. I am thinking to learn french to get additional points but confused because by the time like in 2 months i'll complete TEF it is possible that those points gonna assign to IS or maybe CRS also come down. What should I do go for french?? or wait?? How hard to learn french??

You would be learning a new language which cannot be mastered in 2 to 3 months. Yes, you can enroll for the course and learn it to benefit your long term stay in Canada. However, you should not expect it to help you immediately boost your CRS score in another 3 months.

Your score of 461 is good enough to fetch you an ITA within the next 1 to 3 months.

By the time you get that 10 points in next 2 to 3 months.. I think you will get an ITA. But nothing wrong in learning a new language, keep learning and book for the test after looking the cutoff for couple more draws

I'm at 461 too. CLB 10+ in 3 sections and CLB9 in writing. One year Exp and 2 or more diplomas/degrees.
Taking IELTS again can improve the score by 2-3 points max.

Currently waiting for a few draws seems to be a good option for now considering plan to make special provisions for international students.

Also if you consider April 2015, then too the number of ITA's reduced significantly and the CRS score skyrocketed subsequently. I'm guessing this might be a trend as by this time they may aim to finish off the pending applications from 2015(the previous year).

Well i know all of us between 450-470 must be facing a hard time like myself. I remember having a mini-celebration the moment i saw my score was 461 :p but things took a weird turn after that. Been checking forums, searching for immigration news updates ever since.

But i have a strong feeling things are going to turn around for the better from here onwards. Hang in there mates! All stuck in this range need to have a celebration once THE DRAW takes place, and trust me friends it coming soon!! Best of Luck to all and Good Vibes too!

I've got B1 in French in one year, and B2 in another year (so 2 years in total). B1 is lower than CLB7, so it can give only 1 point per ability (i.e. 4 points in total), and you may lose 5 points for age if you're in your 30-ies. So it makes almost no sense to learn French for gaining few points.

On other hand, waiting for CRS cutoff to fall is also meaningless.

As for additional points for international students, don't forget that every student will get the same "bonus", and since you compete with other students, you may get no benefit at all. Providing additional points to international students means rising CRS cutoff.

Well....PNP seems to be the only option then! And ontario is not even giving out NOIs from a long time! So if the only thing that can be done by all of us is wait, why not be positive about it??

When the government was talking about increasing the ITA's per round which would subsequently lead to a decrease in CRS points, no one could predict that the ITA/round would be lowered to 1000 or the CRS to increase to 470.

I'm sure at this point too, though the available facts make it seem like it's impossible for things to change for the better, I'm sure they would.

Story from my perspective :

Liberal promised favourable immigration changes to express entry / international student.
But on humanitarian grounds had to support the Syrian refugees first, who without a doubt needed help on an IMMEDIATE BASIS.
So, if we have seen this government go out of its way to help those affected in Syria, i don't think it would neglect troubled INLANDERS.
Especially after the Immigration minister having come across this flaw/shortfall of Express Entry and having pledged to make changes in order to help.

Keep your Spirits High, Good News would surely come soon!
Probably not in the next draw, but surely very soon,
REMEMBERThe beauty of immigration is that to win this game, you only need to succeed once. And that we shall!

Thank you everyone for response as for refugee i agree that they should be rescued now i think it is a good move but i don't understand why the hell they cut down our quotaaa by 10K that is what hurting the deserving candidates between 450-470. Instead of 305K total visas they could stick with 315K that should not be a big problem. it is clearly not a wise move it is like last year CRS 450 candidate was getting ITA but this year 469 CRS is not deserving that is not wise. Even i know we'll get out of this soon but i really feel bad for those whose permit expiring soon and they are somewhere in 450-470.
