Hello everyone !
My confirmation of permanent residence document is lost and I can't find it... I have a photocopy of it, can I apply for an original copy ? If yes, how ? And how do I pay ? How much should I pay ? Thank you !
No sure what you mean by "original copy". You will get a replacement, not a copy of the original, if thats what you mean. The replacement doesnt look like the original.
There is a form on CIC website for if you wan to make any changes to COPR. I suppose the same form could be used by providing a note that you do not intend to make any change and just want the same form reprinted and sent to you. On CIC website, under forms section.
CIC no longer replaces lost landing documents instead they issue you a verification of status (VOS) document that will cost $30...last time I looked it took up to 12 weeks for this document to be processed but timelines may have changed. The VOS is a one page legal sheet size with historical data as at your entry including the date of landing and port. It is stamped not valid for travel nor does it confer proof of status so it can be rejected by say the Provincial Health Ministry for health card acquisition.
THIS IS ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF HOW CONFUSING THIS PROCESS IS. FOR THOSE WHO INTEND TO GO THROUGH THAT PROCESS YOU BETTER SAVE YOUR TIME AND ENERGY FOR OTHER THINGS LIFE IS SHORT.
