Okay guys,
I have been CONNED and I am writing this post so you don't end up wasting your money.
My agent signed me up to Canada for 2 years course so I would get 3 years work permit, leading to PR. Great.
Turns out my course is just 15 months but they are charging me for FOUR semesters.
Each semester comes to around 9K CAD. And be careful, each semester is only for 3 and a half months.

I got friends who did similar one year course from Centennial and Humber and they paid around 25 K for ONE YEAR course (much lesser than Conestoga)

They have a new 'campus' in Kitchener which is basically 2 floors in an old mall.

I have an understanding that this is where they enroll students from poor countries. POC students.

Does anyone have more info about Conestoga or their Kitchener campus?

I stopped reading when you said you enrolled with an agent. I really hope people stop trusting them entirely and do your own research. I initially approached agents just to get an idea and I saw a pattern of the colleges they recommend are all the same (high commissions) and not really in best interest of candidates.

Most colleges and UNI have their own student councilors these days and it is fairly easy to get admission on your own. I am glad I finally did everything on my own, people think its a hassle but trust me it is more of an hassle to not have control over anything and keep chasing agents for any update.

This is so true. Do research apply to universities and colleges. Make it a point to also submit your own application for visa. Saves a lot of effort in the end

You haven't really explained how they conned you though? Most 2 year courses are actually 16-months long and it's that way for most public universities. 16 months is 4 semesters so why are you shocked they are charging you for 4 semesters? Also, they didn't lie to you about where they are situated, you can find the info on their website.

The person who conned you here in is your agent who sold you the dream of Canada PR via a quack school. It's all on you. Conestoga never lied about what and who they are.

every academic session in any university contains of 15 weeks.. ( 3 months and half up to 4 months with breaks ) . so i think he found it alot because they are studying 4 terms a year not 2 semesters. ( fall and spring ) some colleges have continues program ( no summer break ) 2 years acadeciammly is 18 months. 18 months of study leads to 3 years pgwp. i think he though the college would be 2 semeters a year and got schoked that it has 4 terms each term costs 9k

It costs less than Centennial too. I have to pay $18k+ a year in my program(software engineering technology-AI, Centennial). The only negative of Conestoga as far as I know is that they are very slow at issuing offer after applying(speaking from personal experience as I had to wait 3+ months). Your agent must be on the fault here, I can say that cause I have applied via agent for the offer letter and they have tried to sell me many lies, none worked though. Because of their fault I am now in trouble for not being able to do my biometrics since vacs are closed here. I waited for 2 months for them to start my visa application and later on decided to do it my own but was too late. So please do not trust agencies or agents, they do not care about you. All they need is the money. I realized my mistake earlier but I was not able to do anything since I applied to my college via the agency. Only if I was able to find this forum before that. Anyway, please do know the study permit process is not that hard you just need to do some research. Regretting later will not fix anything so choose your path carefully.

Is this a special package like buying a holiday where you apply for a study permit and get work visa and PR thrown in? No one is guaranteed any of these.

Lol you must be new. Canadian education institutions are monetizing degrees and tertiary education because people from the third world will pay anything to come to Canada, no matter how terrible their study conditions. Reminds me of this TV show I watched on youtube called UK border force where Indians and Paks would be enrolled in 4 different colleges to work part time

Actually any border control series for that matter, it is heart breaking to see people from third world go through so much struggle just to have a decent life. Whereas people from first world complain of a shitty day because it rained or they had to take public transport as their car wouldn't start.

It is done by both public colleges and private colleges, some private universities also do this. In india agents support this if student wi go to an agent then they will recommend the college which have their partnership with thats why most indian go for colleges and not universities. (my opinion and i know this as when i wanted to apply for my masters program they also suggested me a college even i hold a bachelor degree in chemical engineering)

You are right. Even public institutions. You have to research the program really well. For example, George Brown is creating a business school JUST for International students. Who wants to bet that the education will be garbage?

I know this very well and they will only help in visa filing if you are enrolled in their recommend colleges or universities. Some of them even keep account details with them till your PPR comes and also ask money for passport stamping as additional charges.

I feel that they have begun to realize that Canadian students don't want to be in classes with so many internationals. Now they are going to isolate them :D
