Hi all,

I am in a limbo and need your assistance, here's my story (I reside in USA):
1. Received PPR email on 25th of August to send passports to Ottawa
2. Sent response back to change VO office to Sydney as I was supposed to be travelling longer than 30+ days and needed my passport
3. Received a response from Sydney with new instructions after 10 days from sending email
4. One day later, plans to travel overseas got cancelled because of an emergency
5. Sent an email to the provided Sydney VO office requesting to change my VO back to Ottawa
6. Have not heard back from them yet, it has been over 10 business days

I am concerned that I have 4 more days left before the "30 day" expiry date in the email and I have not heard back.

I even tried getting a Canadian number and calling 1-888-242-2100 but that did not work.

I was thinking of directly sending my passport to the Ottawa office with a cover letter explaining what happened. Does anyone have other suggestions?

Why 4 days? 30 days should have been from your Sydney's VO updated letter, right?
Thanks for the response. Is that how it works? I noticed the same auto-mated message mentioning 30 days from the Sydney email, but doubted that the clock starts from the first email sent. If that's the case, do you think I should go ahead and submit my docs to Ottawa and not wait for their response?

Hello everyone, wanted to give an update. I still have not heard back from Sydney's office, it has been over 3 weeks now and I only have one more week left.

Can someone suggest what can be done? has anyone experienced this?

I just called the IRCC and waited longer than 35 minutes, the agent could not help and mentioned that "because you're in the US and the case is not in my jurisdiction, I cannot assist you nor put any notes in the system". You'll have to wait for Sydney's response.

Can you try calling the Sydney office, since that's where your file currently is?

Thanks, I called the Canadian Consulate in Sydney 2 days in a row, can't seem to get a person on the line even after working through the different extension.

That's a sad state of affairs. Unfortunately the only thing you can do is keep calling them and emailing them reminders - telling them that your deadline is approaching quickly and you are worried, as this would massively set you back through no fault of your own if they do not respond.

Thanks for your reply. I will continue to call and will send an email out with an Urgent subject line, hoping to grab their attention. Do you suggest I CC the Ottawa email address as well, or will that cause more confusion?

I am sorry to suggest this, but confusion is kinda your best friend at the moment. They're keeping you in the dark, you might want to throw everything you have out there and hoping one of those emails and calls sticks.

When you say Sydney, it is Sydney NS, or Sydney Australia?

Also if its NS, then why would you get the VO changed from Ottawa to NS?

Need Help!!

I'm going to submit my EE profile, but before that I noticed that my passport contains my old signature in my native language. I have changed my signature last year and my national identity card has the new signature.

The point I'm worried about is my marriage certificate and an affidavit for proof of funds contains new signature while my passport has the old one. Moreover, I came to know that during an international travel your passport is your identity and you must use the same signatures for any legal purpose abroad for e.g opening an bank account or signing a declaration at airport.

What are the CIC guidelines on this issue?

Should I get a notary attestation on affidavit declaring that I have change my signatures? and then renew my passport (expiring in 2020)? and draft an LOE stating the signature change issue.

Or

Should I Just submit my profile with my existing passport number?

Or

Should I submit my profile with my existing passport number and then later onward update my profile after getting ITA?

I have CRS 448 and expecting to get ITA.

Response from experienced members would be appreciated

Sorry, I meant Sydney Australia, they mentioned this address:

Consulate General of Canada
Level 5, 111 Harrington Street
Sydney NSW 2000
Australia

I only asked them to transfer the office because I was supposed to travel to New Zealand for more than 30 days and needed the passport. The few says after I got the email mentioning that my file transferred to sydney my plans changed due to work related reasons, hence why I asked to send it back to Ottawa as I still remained in the USA.

No need to worry. Just give some time and you will get a reply. It takes 2-3 weeks to get a reply. If you do not hear back in a week, then send the emails again. In your emails do mention that you had requested Sydney, which was granted, but since you are not travelling to Australia anymore, you would like it to be changed back to Ottawa so that there is no confusion.

Thanks, I have 4 more days left before the "30-day clock" expires, I will be sending Sydney and Ottawa CIC an email follow up today as a gentle reminder and will try calling Sydney again tonight.

Will keep you posted.
