Hey fellas,

I noticed some major differences (insensible ones i.e.) in Canadian Skilled Immigration as opposed to the Australian one.

1. The CRS system is unreasonable ->especially the points dependency on age. Australia has same points for < 45 years old applicants.
2. Points for experience/qualifications is unreasonably linked with IELTS scores. Australia does offer better points for better IELTS, but a simple 6 in each is accepted, and doesn't affect your skills based points.
3. The ECA process insists on hard-copies (sealed, signed on flap. etc.). Australian counterparts are happy with 300 dpi scans.
4. POF is a big pain for Canadian Immigration. Australia doesn't care about funds, as long as it feels that you have the right skill-set. It also does imply that you'd not remain unemployed for long in Australia, while survival in Canada initially can be a problem, hence the POF requirement.
5. This one is unrelated to the immigration process and comes to personal choice, but Australia appears to enjoy warm climate and hence more outdoors lifestyle, more swimming, more beach time, more bikinis, etc. ;D

I think I won't have to re-write IELTS multiple times to immigrate to Australia on 189 Visa Sub-Class. Their points system makes a lot more sense. I'll apply for Australia!!

Good luck.

Australia is a great choice as well.

all of them valid points, however if you dont have the required skill set australia wants, then you cant migrate there... as simple as that.

TBH if i get a chance to migrate to australia even now, i would accept it in a heartbeat... but alas i know thats not going to happen

My profession, luckily, falls under the Skills Shortage List.

Can you state a few reasons, so as to motivate me further that I'm making the right choice?

well i have been to melbourne twice, absolutely loved that place... been to canada 4 times, trust me canada has its perks, but australia has 3 things going for it

1 - weather
2 - sporting culture
3 - tons of greenery and open space

i'm massively into all these things, i was outside the melbourne cricket ground taking photos, and like there were so many people just jogging in the middle of the day around it... i had sport shoes on so i decided to run with them... it was the funniest thing ha ha

besides you cant beat having the MCG, the rod laver arena, and the aussie rules football all in the same lane.... i wouldnt mind living on that street like a homeless person ha ha

Btw I have read it takes 10 yrs to bring your parents to canada.
How does that compare to Australia ?

Well,

With the scores plummeting to 400 CRS, Canada seems to become an easy piece of cake. The unemployment rate shall rise further, I reckon.

Australia it is.

Enjoyed reading this!

And you know, Aussie does a better job of integrating immigrants at the 'professional' level from which they emigrated.

It is only until recently that the Government of Canada instituted programs that are geared towards helping immigrants to settle 'properly'. Of course, there was no point in bringing in immigrants who will come in, get frustrated and eventually go and 'sit on the dole'(welfare).

That reminds me, Australian Doles are higher than Canadian ones (if they exist i.e.)

the waiting list is 27 years right now unless you can pay AUD 50,000 per parent to fast track it

What about Canada?
You become eligible after 3 years of your physical presence in Canada, to sponsor your parents as PR.

The new system will take draws each month to select candidates for inviting to apply for their parents. The system would be same as Express entry.

Select candidates will then be able to sponsor their parents to come to Canada as PR.

I'm applying for Canada too, just as a backup.
PS:@jpv, we've got same IELTS scores!!

Well, that's lovely. NOT! You're comparing which taxpayers will give you more handouts before you even get accepted into their country? As a dual Australian/Canadian citizen I sincerely hope you do not get accepted into either place. Immigrants are expected to pay their own way, not enter the country with their hands out and expect a free ride. >:(
