hi there,

I'm a bit confused about the application process and the best way to complete it.

I know I sound a bit stupid but we want to provide as much evidence about our relationship and marriage by submitting supporting evidence and documents.

How should we go about this? I thought the application had to be done online?
Or should we do it in writing and post the application and documents via courier?

I'm arranging meds and police checks tomorrow.

We want to do everything right to avoid any delays.

My hubby's in Canada and I'm a British Citizen, so my visa office will be London.

Many thank in advance :-*

The entire application is sent by mail to Mississauga.

You send your whole package via mail. The sponsor and the applicant's part goes together.
Medical is good for a year and police clearances for 3 months and it stop counting when cic receive your application.
Good luck.

Thank you both for your responses.

I just have one more worry:-

The cost of the medicals is very expensive for myself and my children and I might be being a bit negative, but I'm wondering whether I should wait until we hear if my hubby has got sponsorship approval before we pay over a thousand pounds for them?

I read it's best to get them done upfront but I've also read threads where applicants have had them done upon request.

I'm worried about wasting money if we don't get SA, you see

Any thoughts would be very much appreciated as I'm feeling anxious.

Thanks ;D

Well if you complete all the requiriments for SA you have nothing to worry about.
The approval rate for stage 1 is about 98%.
About doing medicals only when asked, it may delay your process in abouth two months. And the same thing about paying fees. :D

Are your children Canadian? If your husband is Canadian, the children might be as well. If that's the case, they do not need medicals.

I personally wouldn't wait. The checklist indicates it as a required item, so CIC could return the application as incomplete. They usually don't, but it's a possibility, and they would be within their rights to do so.

Yes, I agree with you both.

I'm such a worrier by nature!

I have no reason to doubt our eligibility but I always like to think of every possible worst case scenario!

I'll go ahead and book the medicals.

Our children are British, so will need exams.

Thank you both so much x

Thankfully, as of April 23rd, the CIC has stated that police certificates are now good for 6 months for the country in which you are currently living.

Police certificates for countries in which you have lived more than 6 months must have been conducted after you moved.

Cheers!

Don't forget to use a panel physician for your medicals. Here's the site where you can find one that you can use. The doctor will likely request something in the way of passport photos, etc., and you'll leave with a paper that you'll include in your outland application.

Agreed. It's great news!

Hopefully the word will spread in the community, and it can help a few folks from a headache or ordering a new police certificate.

If only the CIC were better about letting us know there are updated forms or changes to their rules . . . Wishful thinking, eh? ::)

I think it'll never happen unfortunatelly.
Cic prefers lights out :P
+1 for you ^^

I tried looking for panel physicians for my area on the CIC site but it fails to load properly (the dropdown menu to select country etc, doesn't work).

What does the medical exam entail? I can feel my blood pressure rising just at the thoughts of going for it! ha ha.

I don't suffer from any medical conditions (that I know of), but what conditions might mean us being refused? I'm 46 (yikes) and not exactly a fitness fanatic! My kids are fit and healthy.

Great news about the Police certificates

Thanks :-*

They are more concerned with countgious stuff or sicks that uses a lot of the health system.
On my case they just made a blood and urine tests and a chest x-ray.
It took about an hour or less.
Don't forget to take your e-medical with the doctor.
o need to stress. :D

Thanks DanSlh, I feel a bit better already!! ;D
