Ok thanks, Do i need them to come with me when i get this signed by the lawyer or can i just take it there myself? That's such a huge pain if they hvae to come with me! I was going to ask my parents to write a statement for me and they don't live here!

The people who write the letter, need to take it to the lawyer/notary. The whole point of getting it certified, is so the notary can authenticate the person standing in front of them is the one who actually wrote the letter. Your family can mail you the certified letter after it's done if they don't live close to you.

The person who wrote the letter definitely has to sign it in front of the lawyer or notary public. They can get it notarized or made into an affidavit where they live and send the finished document to you.

Ok thanks!! one more question, Ive noticed a lot of people talk about finger prints when they mention the police clearance. It doesnt not mention this anywhere on the application form, and the police clearance i have does not include finger prints. do i need to provide these also.

this whole process is really confusing!!

This is country specific. I know US FBI checks involve fingerprints. However our Korean police checks didn't need any of this stuff. So if your specific police checks don't need em... don't include them!
