Hi
My boyfriend is a Canadian citizen and im from the united Kingdom, i have an ETA so can visit freely. However we now want to live together, for him to sponsor me as a common law partner, it states on the immigration website that we have to prove to co-habit for at least 1 year. With my visitor visa i can only stay for 6 months(i can apply for a 6 month extension) however that feels like i would be doing something wrong as i w, how can i prove our rrlationship is genuine if i can't legally stay here for 1 year. Thanks

You can stay for 1 year as a visitor. Just apply for visitor status extension before your 6 months up as you have stated.
Many people do that.
If you fit the age requirement, you can look into international work experience. I think UK citizens are eligible.
  • be between the ages of 18 and 30 (inclusive),

The UK IEC pool is open now:
United Kingdom—Working Holiday
This pool is open. If you’re eligible you can submit your profile now.

Not sure why you'd feel like that's doing something wrong, it's perfectly find to extend your stay to meet CL requirements.

What the other replies have said.

But please do be aware (if you are not already), that it is not just living together for one year, you must have the 'proof' of living together continuously for one year as stipulated on the CIC spousal sponsorship website / help files / checklist. So you would have to diligently start collecting the proof of cohabitation they are looking for pretty much from the day you land.
