Hello all I am preparing documents for common law sponsorship, my question is, should the letters from friends be of who knew us during the one year of living together and not that they have known us more than the one year we have lived together?
I'm somewhat confused has to how friend's etch should write the letters.

Please help!

I don't really understand what you are asking. But in terms of letters from friends and family only, they must use their own words (and not some for of template), but I suggest the content should be:

Who they know (i.e. him or her)
What their relationship to that person is (friend, mum brother, landlord etc.)
How long they have known them
When they first knew you were a couple
When they first knew you as a couple were living together
Anything they know of your plans (i.e. for immigration)

It should be a 'to whom it may concern' letter, with the writers full name, address and contact details etc.

This is a good summary of what should be in the letter. My friends also wrote down that if IRCC has any questions to please contact them. They also said that they could vouch that we had a genuine & loving relationship, in their own words. I gave my friends a list of the information like what Hurlabrick put down and some friends wrote a very business like letter listing the information above and others wrote one that was more emotional. It really depends on what that person is comfortable with, as long as it is sincere.

Hi! I am also gathering letters from family and friends - and I am wondering, do they need to be notarized?

Thanks!

No they don't have to be.

I never submitted any letters from family and friends. Was this done for just added evidence?

I have searched and I apologize if this was addressed before. I was wondering if letters from friends and family count as part of your 10 pages of communication that they ask for?

No, they are not considered communication.

The letters are for the final (i think) set of evidence requirements on the checklist, if you are picking that option.

Thank you to both of you that replied. I am applying as Family Class - Outland. My spouse is sponsoring me. Just want to make sure my ducks are in a row!
