Hello,
My partner and I have been in a relationship since October 2010 (India) and have been living together in Canada since Sep 2011. He is a PR and I came in as a Student and now on my OWP. We plan to apply for Spousal Sponsorship as Common Law Partners.
Here is the list of proofs we plan to attach:
1. Bank Statements proving our cohabilitation from Sep 2011 to present
2. Driver's Lincense with same addresses (we moved houses 3 times and we have all the 3 linceses with different addresses issued on the same day)
3. Ownership/Adoption of our dog
4. Statutory Declaration of Common Law Union (which was signed by the Commisioner of Oaths in July 2013)
5. Tax Documents (we have been filing taxes together as common law partners for the past 2 years)
6. RRSPs (listing the two of us as each other's successors. He is also listed as the contributor for my RRSP)
7. Rental Agreement (from July 2012 till present)
8. Joint Bank Account
9. Photos (from Oct 2010 - present)
10. We also plan to attach 2 notarized letters (and a few casual letters) from friends/family/landlord confirming our relationship.
When I applied for my OWP in 2013, I changed my marital status to Common Law. My partner recently renewed his PR Card and he did the same last year.
We are extremely nervous as we are applying through In-land process. We just have one chance as we cannot reappeal if it gets rejected. What do you guys think? Should the above mentioned documents suffice? Do you suggest we attach other documents such as emails, phone history, FB and WhatsApp chat or more?
Any help or suggesstions would be much appreciated at this point.
Thank you.
PS. My OWP expires in Aug 2014. We plan to apply by the end of this week. I am guessing that after Aug 2014, I would be on Implied Status which means I would still be able to work full-time with any employer till the decision has been made? Or would I have to wait until CIC approves my partner for sponsorship and then extend/apply for OWP which would mean I can't be working after Aug 2014 till the approval? I'm confused.
