Hey All! I am new to this site. Anyone out there has applied or been approved under the Conjugal Partner class from Jamaica? My partners application to sponsor me was recieved on Augsut 9, 2010, processed on September 8 2010 and approved. It was recieved in Jamaica on September 13 2010 stating that average time is 6 months. Now 7 months and anxious! I have read a similar case to mine but havent seen an outcome of it. I noted that responses suggested that if they could then they should have got married. We havent, we intend to. I really dont pay attention to that as marriage doesnt mean the sucess of the application. Nor filing under spouse means you will be regarded as genuine - its just what you present, how and the persons take on what you have submitted. Having said that...any success cases out there? Any awaiting? Just want the support and will keep interested update on our progress! Good Luck with yours!

The conjugal class is the most difficult of all of the classes to prove and is intended for couples who cannot qualify as married spouses (i.e. it's impossible for them to get married) and who cannot live together for 12 months to qualify for common law. If you don't face these barriers, then you should be prepared for the possibility that your application to be refused. I'm not saying a refusal will definitely happen - but without real barriers to marriage/common law, it's a big possibility.

So cross your fingers and hope for the best! :) For now everything is out of your hands and all you can do is wait. Good luck!

Greetings and welcome..

I'm assuming that the 2009 is a typo?

I've been posting on the Kingston, Jamaica forum for over a year now and the only decline we've had has been a conjugal case... The visa officer felt that while the relationship was genuine, they didn't demonstrate that they qualified for conjugal... I think it was a matter of her not demonstrating that she couldn't live in jamaica..

If you read back on that thread a few months you'll find the situation... Hopefully you'll join us and keep us updated... Crossing fingers for you that your case will have a different outcome

Your case probably just got stronger :) the only other same sex couple from our thread was approved in about 6m, they were married and female if that makes any difference I'm not sure...

Ah. Well, we had one same-sex couple apply as partners and were approved after 7 months. Given the sensitivity of their situation, the Jamaican partner was given a very short window to leave the country after being approved, so hang in there, they understand your situation.

Please feel free to join us on the Kingston, Jamaica thread. I am the updates keeper and will be happy to add you to our listing :)

Keep on keeping on!

Thanks all! I feel encouraged. Have the support of my partner ofcourse but here it helps hearing from others waiting too, even if our situations are a little different. Will keep hanging in there. Charlie, thanx for the invite. Will keep you all posted!
