Hello,
I grew up in a country and finished my education there, However, my permit is about to expired, therefore i have to go back to my country.
I am a citizen of a country where there is an active war and its main airport is closed, thus I now moved to my mothers country on permanent status which is renewed every five years.

The country I moved to has a minor civil war between the goverment and another militia, and that militia is based where my mother's ethinicly is from. Therefore we are facing very alarming and uneven treatment from the goverment.

I am also sexually gay and my sexual orientation is a crime both in the country that i reside in and the cournty of my nationality and the punshiment goes up to the death penalty.

I have successfully aquired my student permit and planning to apply for asylum at the point of entry.
what are my chances?
Thanks.
Not sure what you define as a minor civil war. You would have to show that you are personally at risk where you are living and there is no safe place in that country.

Based on what you’ve written, I think you have a good chance. Just keep in mind that if you become a refugee claimant, it will take many years before you get permanent resident status. In addition, your passport will be seized. You will find a lot of information in this forum about the process. Have evidence with you. Good luck

by civil war i meant im reciving hatred and racism because the goverment is built on this ethinicity and the militia group is a different ethinicity and i am the same as the militia's ethinicity, in addition I am homosexual and i don't feel free nor safe being my self and if i happen to date a same-sex person i could face the death penalty and my family is already suspecting my sexuallity thus I need to fly as soon as possible and as my country of citizenship is in war and airports are closed I have no other place than canada.
A civil war and a different ethnicity in power are very different situations. You would need to show how your life is at risk not just discrimination. If you can prove that you are gay which is illegal then you have grounds for asylum. Asylum is the last option for people that has significant consequences even if approved and a long road. Studying and gaining PR through economic pathways gives you significantly more control over your life and should not affect your family. There is so a lot of negative attention surrounding international students aiming asylum so would also expect additional scrutiny because of this.
