I have received AOR for my application. I have a valid closed work permit till Feb 2014. I wanted to file a Bridge Open work permit. But the rule says that I can not file it before 4 months of expiry that will be in November. But I need an open work permit not close. Does some one has any information regarding this?

As per the checklist you cant apply apply as you mentioned before 4 months of your current work permit expiry date..

However, i have read here a guys applied before receiving the AOR and got approved (Ofcource they issued after he received AOR)

Other guy applied 7 months before his current workpermit expire,,, even he got approved the BOWP...

So, its not recommended to submit....before what it says in the checklist...

but you never know,,, if it falls in a good VO

Thank you so much for the information.

Next question coming into my mind is, as my closed work permit is valid till February, 2014 and If I apply for an open work permit now and some how it get rejected in August (As the ETA is around 30 days). Would I be eligible to continue working until the validity of my current work permit which is Feb, 2014?

Please advise!

Thanks,
Nitin

Ofcource Yes you can keep working till Feb 2014........however, i would suggest you to apply for BOWP in NovemberBefore 4 months of your current WP expires... To avoid any unnecessaryhassle....

(Unless & Untill you have no other option to get rid of your employer)...

No, The problem is I am on travel assignment and my assignment is getting over before November. So If I will not file it now they will stop paying me here after September. Therefore I would need to search a job before that.

One more thing while applying for BOWP, the document check list it is giving me is same as closed work permit because in questions there is no option for "applying for OWP on basis of AOR". Is it like I should apply in the same way with all the document which I use for closed work permit and change the option in the form to Open work permit.

Hi there,

Are you eligible to apply under In-Canada PR classes (Live-in Caregiver class, Spouses or Common-law Partners in Canada class, Protected Persons, etc.)? I was reading in CIC Operation Bulletin 485- December, 2012 that people under In-Canada PR classes may apply for BOWP. They don't require an LMO or any job offer.

Otherwise, the applicant who IS NOT under In-Canada PR classes is required to reapply for another LMO through HRSDC or find a new employer altogether who is willing to hire him/her and go through the application process in obtaining an LMO. As an alternative, the applicant could apply to remain in Canada and extend their status as a visitor but then they would be unauthorized to work. Otherwise, they must leave Canada as they no longer have status.

We'll have to go through the same situation like you soon. Are you under In-Canada PR classes? Please advise.
