Closed Work permit- change employer

Hello I arrived to canada on 2-sep 2022 with a closed work permit ( lmia approved ) from Lebanon.
My WO is only 1,5 years, I found one employer who will offer me a job but for a longer period, i want to change emploer.
what are the steps to be done? do i need a complete WO complete LMIA? again or just email to inform service Canada?

Your new employer needs to first get an approved LMIA. You must then apply for a new closed work permit tied to your new employer. You can start working for your new employer once the new closed work permit is approved.

You're right. You can take advantage of this once your new employer gets the LMIA and you've applied for the new work permit. The LMIA is still mandatory. This policy doesn't allow you to bypass that step. Does your new employer have the approved LMIA already?

It would still be a risk to switch from the employer with the WP without knowing that your WP will be approved. This policy is really for peopl who aren’t currently working with a valid WP elsewhere. Mainly meant for those waiting around doing nothing. If they are approved they will keep working. If denied they will have to stop working.

Just clarifying that you’ve worked for this employer since September.

I am working for the same employer who made me an LMIA and Closed work permit I didn't change
I found another employer who is willing to extend my contract for 3 years instead of 1.5 years.
I am just worried because of the new announcement CECs I want to stay as much as possible so I will go for a year's contract even with less salary but continuity in Canada. Since my English isn't perfect almost qualified for express entry maybe i will need for 2 years to get a invitation to enhance my score if they started doing so

If your new employer can get an approved LMIA, I see no issues in applying for the new closed work permit. It makes sense to give you a longer time to work in Canada.

As long as you keep working while the other employer tries to get the LMIA that’s fine. If you start working for a new employer before getting a WP there is always a risk that it won’t be approved.

I have some questions for LMIA exempt work permit for someone already working in Canada

1-For a closed work permit can someone change job from one employer to another employer while in Canada?

2-Will the person have to quit his present job before he can apply for a new work permit or can he still be working there until he gets the new work permit?

3-If the new work permit is not approved ,can the person remain in Canada and continue with his previous job? or the person has to stop the previous job or does the person have to leave Canada immediately ?

4-If the person is to reapply, for a new work permit with spouse and children who have valid open work permit, will the person need to apply for a new work permit for them too ? or just the applicant requires a new work permit.

5- Is it advisable for one to change job if the person has a good reason?

6-Can the person change his/her NOC other than the one used for the first closed work permit.
Eg applicant has a total of 10 years work experience outside Canada. (6 years with NOC A and 4 years with noc B.(noc B was the noc used to get initial work permit.now can the person in the course of changing job use NOC A? Or good to use same NoC

You need a new LMIA and work permit to change jobs. You can’t work for the new employer until you have both. You can work for your current employer if you have a valid visa/LMIA until the new LMIA/permit are approved. If your children and spouse’s permit are still valid then they don’t need new ones. You need to prove you can do the job and have work experience if you are changing NOCs.
