Hi All,

On IELTS, I have scored Listening: 8, Reading: 7, Writing: 7, Speaking: 7 (Overall Band Score: 7.5). My CLB seems to be a 9 (correct me if I am wrong) based on the CLB to IELTS calculator: https://ieltscanadatest.com/test-results/ielts-and-clb/

The Skill Transferability states that if you have a CLB 9 and above, you will be allotted 50 points each under Education and Foreign Experience (refer http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/express-entry/grid-crs.asp --> C. Skill Transferability Factors --> Education, Foreign Experience).

In my case, I am seeing only 25 points being allocated each under Education and Foreign Experience. Any explanation to why I have got only 25 and why not 50?

Its a possibility that 50 points is when you have a 9 and above on each language ability. If that is the case, how much should I score in each language ability to get a CLB of 9 and above on each ability? The calculator only gives an overall CLB and not for each ability.

In case this has been discussed elsewhere, pls point to me the relevant thread.

Thanks in advance!

You have CLB 9 in each ability.

If you have only bachelors degree, you will get only 25 points.

You have CLB 9 in each ability.

If you have only bachelors degree, you will get only 25 points.

Thanks for your response Ajith. How did you determine that I have a CLB of 9 in each ability? The reason I ask is that I have 3.5 Years of Foreign Experience (US) - I should have got 50 points, right? I have got only 25.

Another quick question - My wife has the following IELTS scores:
L, R, W, S --> 6.5, 7.5, 7, 8.5 What is her CLB in each ability?

were those 3.5 ALL in an NOC 0 A or B?
Thanks a lot Del Piero. This clears the IELTS to CLB conversion doubts.

Any answers for this:
I have 3.5 Years experience in the US - with CLB being 9 on all abilities (L, R, W, S: 8, 7, 7, 7), I should have got 50 points for Skill Transferability on Foreign Experience. Any reason why I have got only 25?

I don't have a Masters Degree. I won't get 50 points under the Skill Transferability - Education, but should I not be getting the 50 for the 3+ years of Foreign Experience?
Why did I think one needed at least 7.5 on Writing

Is that true? Although my points stand at 396, it still shows me as eligible. If 7.5 on Writing was mandatory, I may not have been eligible. Right?

Eligibility is determined at the FSW level where you appear to have 67 points and above. This doesn't count toward eligibility, but the overall CRS score and you've gotten a score of 396 !

I will advise you to retake IELTS and enhance your scores- if I could do it, so can you.
