Clarification regarding work experience in different NOCs

I'm posting this question on behalf of one of my friend.

Question: I have 1 year and a few months continuous experience in NOC code: 2147. That is the NOC code on the basis of which I am applying for Canadian immigration. However, in the past I have more than 2 years of experience under NOC code 4011( university lecturer ) and 4012 ( research associate ). When I filled the online application then I expected that it will give me points based on only my one year of experience in the relevant NOC code of 2147. However the system has given me full points on my experience ( 3 years plus ). In other words it has used my experience under the NOC code 4011 and 4012 also whole determining my job experience. Has anyone experienced this before ? Any comments will be really helpful

If CIC gives me point for my experience in NOC codes 4011 and 4012, I get about 491 points. I believe that I'll be able to get ITA in a couple of draws for that. But during the eligibility check (before creating express entry profile), I read the statement that experience should be continuous and in the same NOC code. This is very confusing

Now I've created my profile and it has assigned me 491 points. I would like to know if I submit my application after receiving ITA, and later on CIC offer discards points due to NOC 4011 and 4012, my application will get rejected as I do not have 3 years of experience in NOC 2147.

Please advice what should I do.

Work experience for CRS points purposes is treated cumulatively.

Work experience for FSW eligibility purposes, i.e. minimum 1 year, must be continuous and in one NOC.

The system assigned your friend the right points.
Hey Dan, Wanted to ask you this thing and wanted some advice:-
I have 2 jobs spanning around 3 years.
But both the jobs fall under different NOC.
So is it okay to show 2 different NOC for the two jobs or is it unacceptable?

As in, I have experience of 2 yrs in one particular NOC in B category and another work experience of 1 yr 9 mts in another NOC in A category.
So will this cumulatively be counted as 3 years 9 months regardless of the fact it's under different NOC?

Also, from what I have read online, I also need to specify as to what's my "primary" NOC in my application. So how is that to be selected?
